Zimmerman Trial Day 2 – Analysis of State’s Witnesses (BONUS: hilarious tweets of Prosecution woes)

Today can only be characterized as an utter debacle for the prosecution in Florida v. Zimmerman. Besides the testimony of a couple of highly professional law enforcement witnesses, the testimony of the the other State witnesses ranged from signing George Zimmerman’s praises, to acknowledging the utility of following a suspicious person from a distance, to being utterly discredited by razor sharp cross-examination of the defense.

...it hardly seems that a half-dozen recordings of Zimmerman calmly phoning the police precisely as he had been instructed by them can much advance their charges of second degree murder.

The next, shall we say, interesting witness called by the State, and the last witness of the day, was Selene Bahadoor. She was one of the residents of Twin Lakes whose townhouse bordered on the scene of the altercation between Zimmerman and Martin, and who took note of the event as it happened. As such, she was really the first substantive witness to date who would, purportedly, be able to share some direct knowledge of the events as they unfolded.

O’Mara handled the cross-examination of Bahadoor, and it was very quickly apparent that this person who had promised to be the State’s star witness of the day–and perhaps of the entire trial–was about to be have her testimony and credibility utterly, indeed humiliatingly, crushed before the jury.

O’Mara then asked if it would be fair to say that Bahadoor had sympathy for the Martin family. “I have sympathy for both families,” she answered, somewhat aloof.

“But,” noted O’Mara, “you “liked” the Facebook page for the Martin family, but not the Facebook page for the Zimmerman family.”

"witnesses ranged from signing George Zimmerman’s praises......" I must have missed the deaf mute witness.

[[The defense can win every single point of evidence and still lose.]]

so cant’; the prosecution, just like we saw in casey anothony case- it’s never over until the verdict is read (and let’s not forget the debacle of orbamercare and hte supreme court- all the experts watchign the case, studyign hte case, all were sure there was no way the court woudl uphold the blatantly unconstitutional law- all thep undits were sure too- then wham! roberts sold us out

I won’t feel good abotu htis case until zimmerman is declared not guilty-

[[And it will come down to this, “If you don’t convict, the streets will explode and it will be your fault.”]]

And sadly that is the whole truth of hte matter- if he’s foudn not guilty, he’s in serious trouble when htey release him - there is so much black hatred for him that he doesn’t stand a chance even if he’s foudn innocent- nothign short of a death sentance will placate the crowd I’m afraid

I learned a new phrase today from Selene Bahadoor while watching the trial . She kept saying she “took the stove off” and I had to “take the stove off”.

O’Mara tried to clarify but I’m still not sure what that means. She took something off the stove or she turned the stove off....new to me.

I thought she answered every question in a clear and concise manner....for hours. She is trained to testify in court so no emotion. Just the facts.

Sadly that might just be enough for a conviction. It takes special kind of principled person to look past the threats of violence, and politics of this case and even their family’s own safety and give a full acquittal.

Nope. The judge will dismiss before it goes to jury. Too much backlash building on the other side of the feral urban animals. Also, the judge is not perfect, but is fairly righteous aka cares about the law.

Riots will follow, but they’ll happen regardless.

“Once Zimmerman is acquitted he should sue for malicious prosecution.”

And use his generous settlement to create a wholly new and different persona, place of residence, etc, and disappear.

Already have. The tone is set. Cases are usually won or lost on the first day of testimony. The prosecution flailed. It is all but done.

She was a very professional witness, or she was unnaturally mechanical.

I'd say it was both.

Maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the fact that she is USED TO TESTIFYING IN COURT, and KNOWS WHAT SHE IS SUPPOSED TO DO. Like, answer questions simply and directly.

My only objection to JIGGYBOY's Comment is that he implied she was a retard because of her looks.

That has nothing to do with her testimony, does it ?

Watched the entire testimony of the one witness. The persecution would have to do a lot better than that to have any prayer at all.

I don’t know if ANYONE ELSE WATCHED ANY OF THE TRIAL or THE VIDEOS AT THE LINK.... but witness Bahadoor DEMONSTRATED the ‘flailing arms’ to the jury. She had her fists clenched and was rolling them like someone beating on something in front of them. She also mentioned it was a very ‘fast’ motion.

(shades of M.M.A. beatdown)

I thought I recalled some photos of George that clearly showed his face exploded and blood everywhere before they cleaned him up.

I think Ms Backdoor gave us a clue about who was fighting out her backdoor. She said she saw “arms flailing”. That could have only been one person — Bernie.

BTW we have waited long enough:

WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE

No more stalling, Bernie. It’s time to end your career with a comedy routine.

The jury consists of 6 women. Nine times of out of ten, they’ll fall down on the side of emotion over logic.

I fear you may be right. But a breakdown of married vs. single might be a good predictor as well.

She was coached to answer the question as tersely as possible and to not volunteer any info.

She was TRAINED to DO HER JOB, and not to just MOUTH HER OWN OPINIONS and ramble on. Apparently you have never been to a criminal trial and listened to the testimony of trained Law Enforcement Officers or Supportive Staff. Her job not only includes tagging evidence, but TESTIFYING IN COURT afterward. She has done this REPEATEDLY for over 6 years.

Her husband is a Sanford cop btw.

Which was brought up during questioning. Out in the open. No surprise.

BTW, her 'testimony' and the 'evidence' she collected is proving Zimmerman is not guilty.

Exactly...never heard of a vigilante “murderer” calling the police 4 times....giving his location and phone number...telling where they can meet him when they get there...BEFORE he commits 2nd degree murder..ridiculous charges.
