thank you for thinking of them. they don’t go out unless “grandma” (me) goes out with them.

the heat feels like a furnace. i can’t imagine what it was like before the swamp cooler here. my grandma said they hung up wet sheets in the windows.

I remember living in West Virgina, back in the early/mid-50s, and AC wasn’t distributed commercially, yet. Our Family got a window AC unit in the early-60s (that was a big deal!), and our ‘66 Mustang got an AC unit, too, in ‘67. I remember wet sheets on the windows, and sleeping outside on the porch, at night. A breeze was a blessing.

How we ever ‘survived’ without AC is a mystery to me. LOL. Hell, we didn’t have seat belts in the 50s, drank from garden hoses, rode in the back of a p/u truck etc. Somehow, we all made it.
