Bill Donohue: DOMA Ruling Signals Religious Liberty Is 'Under Attack'

Catholic League president Bill Donohue told Newsmax on Wednesday the Supreme Court's rulings in favor of gay marriage indicate that a deliberate attack is now underway against religious liberty in America.

Donohue also called for passage of a constitutional amendment to define the nature of marriage as between a man and a woman.

"On the part of some people — not all — but on the part of some of the people driving the day's agenda, there is malicious intent, and that is to punish people of faith," Donohue said. "And that's where we have to show resistance."

Calling gay marriage "one of the more insane ideas in the whole history of the world," Donohue voiced concerns that the ruling would be used to try to intimidate defenders of traditional values, who would be charged with bigotry for voicing their opinions. "This is a very pernicious road to go down," he warned.

Pleasant idea but that battle (of public opinion) was lost because ony one side fought and most of the other side(our side) used weak arguments in response and then just went AWOL.

If a GOP POTUS wouldnt try this after 8 years in office you sure wont get THIS congress or 38 states to go along NOW years later.

Please let's not talk about an amendment. Doesn't that mean we would have to have a Constitutional Convention where everything is up for grabs? Wouldn't that mean that wholesale changes to our beloved Constitution could be made by loathsome politicians? And why would we want to mar our beautiful Constitution by adding something to it that we all agree on already? Let's leave it like it is and not tinker with it.

Every single Republican is now going to be asked "are you - at present - a believing Christian?" when they're campaigning.

Maybe the response is, “Do you suffer from same-sex attraction disorder?” I’m really becoming convinced that we need to use the proper terminology for homosexuals, just to keep it in the forefront of everyone’s consciousness that this is a mental disorder.

2% of the population with mental problems that make them have “same-sex attraction”, and they have managed to destroy Christianity in this country. Sodomy has been condemed in all civilized societies since the beginning of recorded history. Now dear leader has made it legal and you go to jail and are labeled a hateful bigot if you disagree with perversian. George Washington is rolling over in his grave. Stonewall Jackson had them shot for degregation of the mission and to promote good order and discipline. Normal men would not serve with sexual deviants and still will not serve with them. The government can say sodomy is normal till the cows come home. It’s a lie. A lie is still a lie no matter how many times it’s repeated.
