Why Black People Understand Rachel Jeantel
Global Grind ^ | 27 JUNE 2012 | by Christina Coleman

If ever I thought myself objective and unbiased, the George Zimmerman trial is definitely not that moment.

So let's cut to the chase. Any attorney, jury member, judge or white person in that courtroom is not going to understand Rachel Jeantel. And I don't expect them to.

In fact, I certainly, like my fellow writer Rachel Samara, understand why white people wouldn't like Rachel.

She's hard. She's black. And your assumptions about her background and lack of education make you feel like you are better, somehow. That her testimony, no matter how powerful and impactful it may be to this trial, is implausible. Weak, maybe? Let's impeach her.

But maybe the reason white people don't understand Rachel Jeantel has something more to do with white privilege then, what they would call, Rachel's capricious nature.

Let's for one second try to understand why Rachel is "angry" (read emotional), "hood" (read blunt), and "unintelligent" (read multilingual).

The thing is, what white people see in Rachel has little to do about her own issues, and more to say about the America that white people are blind to. Let's take her testimony on not calling the police, for example.

Yes, very amusing indeed. More fun than actually listening to the testimony.

And your assumptions about her background and lack of education make you feel like you are better, somehow.

Where to even start?

She - CAN"T - READ - HER - OWN - HAND-WRITING.

Why? Because she can't read "cursive"; yet somehow she can write it?!? She can be under oath, yet somehow she can manufacture the "truth" to suit a whim?

This bimbo (and yes, that is an accurate description) can not read, has a very limited intellectual grasp of reality, is blatantly "stupid" by almost any definition - "Cracker" isn't a racial slur? (really?).

And, if I call the bimbo an idiot - why, I must be "racist". Stupidity is color-blind. Or, it used to be, until EEO got into the equation and demanded we lower the bar on what "stupidity" is - so a certain race doesn't get their feelings hurt. Stupidity is a pretty self-evident trait; and this woman embodies it, black, white, yellow, red or purple.

If I’m not mistaken, Ms. Coleman appears to be black, not white.

Again, someone tell me she’s not breeding

I hate to inform you, but she could be a grandmother. There are certainly those near her age that are in her haitian/ghetto community. I think one of the youngest to give birth in America was in Miami area and was Haitian...8-9 y/o IIRC. She became a grandmother at age 20 or 21....before she could drink.

I have never hear of the globalgrind. Is it a blog, or a New Black Panther publication?

“If ever I thought myself objective and unbiased, the George Zimmerman trial is definitely not that moment.”

Yes but but your so obviously a progressive, how can YOU say this?

“So let’s cut to the chase. Any attorney, jury member, judge or white person in that courtroom is not going to understand Rachel Jeantel. And I don’t expect them to.”

Speaking coherently makes it easier for everyone to understand what you are saying.

“In fact, I certainly, like my fellow writer Rachel Samara, understand why white people wouldn’t like Rachel.”

Why would you stereotype me because I’m White?

“She’s hard. She’s black. And your assumptions about her background and lack of education make you feel like you are better, somehow.”

So being educated doesn’t make anyone better than anyone else? This “hard Black” woman contributes equally to society?

“That her testimony, no matter how powerful and impactful it may be to this trial, is implausible. Weak, maybe? Let’s impeach her.”

It is “weak and implausible” because she is lying. You see dear lying, even to the White man’s court is a crime. It is not just wrong, but it is a crime. Can even you understand that?

“But maybe the reason white people don’t understand Rachel Jeantel has something more to do with white privilege then, what they would call, Rachel’s capricious nature.”

Using a phrase like “capricious nature” won’t hide your racist assertions about White people. White people pull the wagon in this country and welcome all to sit in it.

“Let’s for one second try to understand why Rachel is “angry” (read emotional), “hood” (read blunt), and “unintelligent” (read multilingual).”

Your “one second” is up, and it proved nothing. Why can’t you and Rachel try to understand why we don’t like liars who are trying to unjustly convict a man or murder when the facts say he is innocent?

“The thing is, what white people see in Rachel has little to do about her own issues, and more to say about the America that white people are blind to. Let’s take her testimony on not calling the police, for example.”

Yes dear calling the police is “snitching” in the fringe world you dare to imply is interchangeable with the greater society.

What “powerful,”.....what “impactful”????

She’s having a hard time remembering her lines....the script drummed into her by the Martin lawyers.

I, as an old over-the-hill redneck feel sorry for her situation in life; but what you see when you look at her is a glittering example of what “The War on Poverty” and other Democrat BS have produced....a “fiekd hand” on the Crat plantation....and she’ll NEVER escape it. Massa Lyndon designed it that way.

Yet more excuses from the black community for a black person being confrontational, illiterate, and ‘hood. Black people need to realize that if you make excuses for pathetic behavior, you get more of that bad behavior. Plus, black people need to realize that when other people see black people constantly backing the dregs of society, it appears to the outside world that black people embrace a violent, illiterate subculture.

Exactly!

Christina, did we keep J from learning in school, going to church, making good life decisions, working hard at any time in her life?? NO! Liberals love to make excuses for everyone including themselves and their actions. When cornered by conservative thought they run because we are Realville not dodgeball.

We need to warn readers about “liberal racism” in the title, in the same manner we do with “barf alert.” This is one evil writer.

The article's author is right!
I'm black (I'm from the same island as her family) and understand Rachel.

Let's see: She's a liar and an idiot. Did I miss something?

Author is...confused.

Emotional? Sure. Anyone involved in a murder trial would be.
Blunt? More frayed.
Multilingual? She can’t read a letter she claims she wrote! Heck yeah having perjury revealed would make anyone emotional and frayed, but cannot be construed as multilingual.

Multilingual? English and Ebonics?

Reading from the article, Creole was the first language she learned...I detected no accent.

Just making one excuse after another for the epic fail of the prosecution's "star witness".
