I seem to remember reading that somewhere. If he did, I am sure that the command did it's best to keep it under wraps. News spreads fast, and they saw what happened to morale after Jackson's death.
I know it is fun to play "what if", but I always wondered if Jackson had he lived been able to persuade Lee to fight on a more level area, or even better find terrain that better suited the fight. I always sensed he trusted Jackson more than Longstreet anyway.
I also wonder how the PR and morale would have played if this fight would have been within the outskirts of DC.

Protestant Hispanics went 56% republican in 2994, and 48% republican in 2008, they don’t need much to get them right.
Catholic Hispanics will never be republican, in American history the Catholic vote has only gone republican 5 times and that was without Hispanics, and those “good old days” are already gone.

Of course that is 2004, not 2994.

I believe you are correct about the trust Lee had for Jackson verses Longstreet. Yes, what ifs, are the best part of history. I think Lee was convinced his army could defeat any foe on any field. Longstreet was rebuffed. Lee also may have been thinking of the Revolutionary War Battle of Kings Mountain. Ferguson held the high ground and was routed. Lee had the same confidence in his army till Gettysburg.

Look for this country in time to break-up, just like what the old Soviet Union did in the early 90’s. Big countries tend to do that.

Suddenly, youve got half the Latino population in America who are either Tea Party or Republican. I think the Democrats really screwed up on their long-term strategy. ABSOLUTE BS! All that matters for a vast majority of hispanics (and blacks too) is whatever free goodies they can mooch off the government. That is it and guess which party promises them free goodies? You don't see a mass exodus of hispanics from the Democrats because of gay marriage do you?
And if Hispanics really were such "natural conservatives" then why is so many of the GOP embracing gay marriage? How is that going to help us in attracting latinos?
Free goodies. That is what it is all about. You want to attract latinos, then the GOP must become Democrat-lite.
The GOP bears so much responsibility for this illegal immigration mess. For decades they received bribes in the form of campaign contributions from the cheap labor lobby. Now it has come to this, yet they could care less what happens to the country. As long as they and their families are taken care of, they will happily live in their gated communities while the rest of us suffer from their policies.

MD was going Dixie then King Lincoln started arresting the legislature and the rest is history. Or what passes for history at any rate.

Add a forth one: Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Washington. You can even add Alaska. We’ll call it Conservative States of America and you all can have the Confederate States of America back. Hope you have better luck than last time.

If he did, I am sure that the command did it's best to keep it under wraps. If he did then I doubt they recognized it. Symptoms of a heart attack or high blood pressure were unknown. Generally it wasn't until they keeled over did they realize anything was wrong.

I'm actually in the Northeast and would escape to one of the Mountain West states. I may do that anyway, whether or not there is a split.
Oh, and I think part of the American divorce would include returning Colorado to the conservative side. Tell the ex-Californians to go back from whence they came.
