After all the heaviness Brahms opts for a short intermezzo marked andantino for his dance movement in the Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B minor, Op. 115. Andantino is used a lot by Schubert, but few other composers use it. Here it signifies a reasonable walking pace.

It has a sunny beginning in D Major, but at 1:40 the clouds return for a pensive middle section marked presto. At 4:16 the opening section returns in truncated form for a quiet and peaceful end.

Brahms: Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115, third movement
