and from days gone by...
That’s right. And few Canadians realize it.When you have weapons in your home, regsitered , both restricted and non restricted, you have given the police the right to enter anytime without warrant.
This is a horrible state of affairs and incidents like this one raise the awareness of Canadians of how vulnerable “gun owners” are, and they should not be.
Mehh~ “ We tried to notify them, couldn`t find them ,so we assumed consent. After all they have nothing to hide now do theyt” is what I expect to hear :
While Canadians have a right to protection only against unreasonable intrusions upon their privacy, the provisions of Bill C-68 go beyond the bounds of reasonableness. The search and seizure powers granted by C-68 are unconstitutionally broad. They authorize police to enter into private homes at any reasonable time and to search any place where the inspector believes . . . there is a gun collection or a record [of a gun collection] and may open any container . . . examine any other thing that the inspector finds and take samples of it; and require any person to produce for examination or copying any records books of account or other documents. Such sweeping search powers violate the prohibition against police fishing expeditions imposed by the courts interpretation of the section
