I am really unclear why you are being so obtuse on this relatively minor issue (as you yourself stated), but my comment to the salient fact quoted above would be:
Calling the chain of Islands off the coast of California the "Santa Barbara Channel Islands" still does not place San Clemente Island off of the coast of the City of Santa Barbara. In fact the island remains where it is: off the coast of Orange and San Diego Counties.
The list of islands is called The Santa Barbara Channel Islands, not sure why that upsets you - sorry. I am going to the beach tata
