70,000 people killed in the drug war out of a population of 112.3 million. Although it’s .06 percent, it’s still a stunning number.
Back in the days of the cartels, there were almost no killings. The cartels were in business to make money so they divided up the territory and didn’t fight as much. Then the US destroyed the cartels, creating a perfect market economy. Anybody could get into the drug trade. Paradoxically, the US’s success in wiping out the drug cartels led to a dramatic drug price drop in the US. Dropping prices caused a surge in demand. Drugs are like a mythical hydra; chop one head off and two more grow in its place. The solution to Mexico’s problems lies with the demand in the US. This is what has led me to a more libertarian view.
In order to fix immigration we have to fix Mexico. If I were Mexican living in that hell hole I would do whatever it took to get out and make a better life.
What Rubio and his boys never speak about though is that their 20 million new tax payers will be sending most of their money back to Mexico .
There are a thousand reasons for my attitude, most of them related to the fact that it's a filthy, worthless Fourth World cesspool.
As shown by this incident.
I read a short article from the daily WWII thread earlier in the week of a Mexican political candidate getting shot in the head in Mexico City while exiting a bus. That was in 1943.
Can this sort of thing be far behind?
Thanks nickcarraway. I see the “blame the US” crowd has arrived.
Why do you think the Mexicans that can cross over to here? It’s easier to run away and get rewarded for it than to risk your life fixing your own country.
