Is Obama a Victim of Self-Esteem Education?
American Thinker ^ | 07/02/2013 | By Jonathon Moseley

I never understood Barack Obama -- or even some of my friends -- until I read The Amateur by Edward Klein (Regnery Publishing 2012 -- paperback June 13, 2013).

But first you also need to remember the plague of "self-esteem" based education. And finally it all makes sense. The self-esteem movement hurt our public schools and degraded the curriculum. The self-esteem time bomb is now coming full circle, as the victims of our schools, colleges, and universities have moved into leadership of our country.

Barack Obama is the ultimate "A for effort [D for performance] President." Obama's ineptness is exceeded only by his giant ego. Obama received a "to be determined" Nobel Peace Prize in the naked hope that he might do something later to promote peace. This is self-esteem taken to a ridiculous extreme -- but in real life. But wait: Isn't that exactly what the liberal educational approach teaches in our schools and even in our universities and law schools?

It doesn't matter if you get the wrong answer as long as you believe in yourself. It doesn't matter if you can actually achieve anything, as long as you try. Liberal educational techniques teach students that everyone is a winner, everyone's opinion is equally valid, and there should be no competition or grading on the basis of merit.

Sure, we all have limitations. There is nothing wrong with that. Henry Ford claimed that he wasn't all that smart, but he succeeded by hiring people smarter than he. But the difference is he could admit his own strengths and weaknesses and take action to compensate.

The most important sentence in The Amateur is: "He doesn't know what he doesn't know." I interviewed the author on the Conservative Commandos radio show, when the book came out in paperback.

Good article. Obama is a Malignant Narcissist. We are inundated with these since the self-esteem movement took hold. I once read that criminals have very high self-esteem. Not surprising.

American education has reduced itself to the level of the TV ‘sit com’ in content, breadth, depth and absence of gravitas. Young people are discourged in possessing or using the attention span any longer or more mature that that of a cocker spaniel.

You can have NO expectation of excellence in the generations of Americans to come out of this system... except possibly by some fluke whereby a student actually challenges, doubts, researches and learns IN SPITE of the lack of guidance and professionalism in teaching.

Apparently too stoned or coked up to catch anything in his science classes. Here choomie. Here choomie. Remember when the mere intimation that GWB may have done some drugs or that he had a dui nearly derailed his campaign? Now we have an admitted user in place for the 2nd time. WTH is wrong with us? (strictly rhetorical!) I guess nobody wants to tell him that algore is wrong and that it’s foolish to believe what he says. Since prof. hussein is buying it no one wants to tell him he’s wrong because it might hurt his self esteem and make him feel bad about himself.

There was no self esteem movement in education when Barrack Obama was in grade school and the Puna school. But I am sure he was endlessly praised and cut slack by teachers who wanted to see this exotic boy do good so kind of amounts to the same thing. And given all kinds of affirmative action boosts, formally done and informally done

I workwd in academentia for a while and I could smell the stink of affirmative action on this guy from the get-go. They are a clearly-identifiable “type.”

The most important sentence in The Amateur is: "He doesn't know what he doesn't know."

It's worse. Should be; "He doesn't know what or care that he doesn't know."

In Obama's case he revels in his self righteous ignorance gleefully destroying America and Western Civilization in pursuit of Islamic supremacy. His behavior is that of a sadistic child. But he doesn't care. Because he will now always be pampered and coddled, being giving everything he desires.

And that's just what a sadistic child craves.

There’s at least an order of magnitude difference between the smell of affirmative action and the stench of

“groomed by the communist agenda for this very purpose.”

I remember in 1990 I was in 5th grade, and they started this “Positive Actions” campaign in our school. Everyone had to write positive things about one another and tape them to each others’ desks. I was from a single-parent home and my mother did not have a lot of money for clothes, so I was generally in KMart clothes or hand-me-downs from the church or the Salvation Army. Kids would write that I dressed well. When a 10 year old knows someone is lying, it really promotes cynicism.

Perhaps that’s how I became the man I am today.

Such things harm more than help people. PC and Political Correctness will be the Jokes of the 21st Century starting abour 2020 when they are dumped for good. Remember Dr. Martin Luther King was against Affirmative Action—and when he was talked into it—said it should only last ten years—for African Americans to catch up—now its a crutch and a club to hit “Whitie” over the head.

PC isn’t a joke, it’s a deliberate weapon deployed to advance Marxism.

The very essence of PC is to suppress the telling of the truth.

PC originally was dubbed “Cultural Marxism” by those that first instituted it.
