But if that's all it is, why only give inflated grades to the blacks? Any students would do as well for that purpose only.

raising "d"'s and "c"'s makes sense...raising "a"'s and "b"'s doesn't.

I always hoped no one would think of me that way. I have a degree n computer science from Texas A&M back in ‘85.

I was an automatic early entrance. I had a 4.0 throughout high school and top 25%, and only needed an 800 on my SAT to get in. (Not the same requirements today.)

I worked my butt off in college. I was originally a chemical engineer, but switched to computer science. I was better with CS. I got better grades when I switched. Computers don’t have bias. Programs either work or they don’t work.

I was the type of student that always did all my homework and turned it in on time. I did extra credit. I was not as smart as others, but I worked harder.

I worked for 10 years in the defense industry before I had kids. The hardware engineers liked working with me because I listened to them and incorporated their ideas and made it easy to test their software. I also documented code ver well which made easy for others to modify. Doesn’t matter how brilliant some code is if no one understands it, and it needs to be modified.

I hope that nothing I got was due to affirmative action.

This is the terrible thing with this kind of treatment.

Not only does it do a disservice to the kids receiving it, not only is it an insult to them from the liberals who say they’re doing them a favor,

but the people like yourself who actually genuinely earn the grades are put under suspicion of benefitting from the same artificial grade inflation.

Any time affirmative action/different standards stuff is done for anyone, it puts all of those people that are in that protected, special class under suspicion of improperly benefitting. That’s why it needs to be done away with, and really exposed as an insult to these people that they can’t earn the grades themselves so libs take it upon themselves to give them grades they didn’t earn - that’s their liberal handout to them. It is so condescending they actually think the profs are doing them a favor when it’s really a slam on their own intelligence and liberals’ perceived “they can’t get along without my help” mentality.

I also think the difference in your case is that since you did earn those grades, you would clearly be able to prove with your smarts and experience that you knew what you were talking about. I am sure you’ve been able by your abilities get rid of anyone’s doubt if they had any, about your bona fides.

Others have this issue too, and not just on skin color. Sometimes it may be because of the school you went to. Maybe not known as being as prestigious or tough of a program as other places, differences in accredidation, and that kind of thing, people have had to prove they either knew what they were doing or they didn’t.

And I would be willing to bet your product spoke for itself. You can only open doors with paper, your reputation will keep them open for you. EVERYONE that works with others knows who is and who is not competent.

It is not rocket science...unless of course, it is rocket science.

If you look at the employment rates by type of degree, when a person graduated and how many years in the field, there is a clear pattern. Schools are encouraging everyone to get a degree, employers are not buying it. Degrees that have verifiable standards like CS or engineering, have low unemployment rates. People with nonsense degrees flip burgers...if they can learn those standards.

I have no doubt from what you wrote where you stand on the above. Thanks for being what you are in the workplace.

I got the same question for you that I got for anybody. Anybody. What is the Sine of forty five degrees? Exactly?

The answer is between you and God ... and me and everybody else if you’d care to share.

I know there are many incompetent male professionals but for some odd reason I just trust a male dentist and doctor more than a female. The one and only time i went to a female dentist she didn’t even know enough to wait till I was fully numb, either that or didn’t give me enough anesthetic. The one time I was going to a female doctor for a little while she was just too impersonal, also gynecologist...I saw the woman twice because had to wait too long for my usual one and she was less gentle and she blew off my general health questions by telling me to take it up with my GP. The male doc has always tried to incorporate a whole health approach.

difference is most times those guys don’t have profs or schools bumping up their grades because of liberal affirmative action. there’s no benefit to the liberal agenda by doing so unless they are a minority male of the right ethnicities there’s no liberal fairness or whatever rationale used when it comes to doing this for men. their whole agenda anyway is to emasculate men and ‘empower women, and that has translated into jobs away from men and putting more women into jobs for men. look at the demo groups most affected so far by obama’s planned destruction of the economy. men in general, and white men in particular.

“Raising the grades is more fair than giving then 40 acres and a mule.”

I’m in favor of keeping the 40 acres and a mule...I still get a nice check from the oil and gas royalties from the 40 acres that my great-great grandfather obtained from carpet-bagger black man. The man showed up in the area after the Civil War, claiming to be a freed slave and claiming his 40 acres. He then proceeded to scam the other blacks in the area...to the point where they had attempted to lynch him. He traded the 40 acres to my great-great grandfather for a wagon to haul himself and his belongings out of the area...he already had the mule. ...155 years...seems not much changes in peoples’ behaviors when they get handouts.

This isn’t just ‘unfair’. It is criminal, at least from a standpoint of the University committing fraud. It is intentional misrepresentation of a candidate’s qualifications.

If I were a company that is societally compelled to hire minorities to maintain community peace, I’d sue the University for damages caused by having to hire unqualified candidates they represented as ‘qualified.’

“For years...whenever I’ve seen a black doctor, lawyer, cop, fireman or DMV employee I’ve wondered “qualified,or Affirmative Action?”

The sad truth is, that should be the efault judgment until proven otherwise. There is no reason not to assume that is the case; our government mandates it.

“WHole thing is sick and it also helps set these kids up for failure in the future because they can’t live up to their inflated grades.”

It has been in place (and failing) for decades; it tells blacks they are inferior to whites.
