Obamacare employer mandate delayed until 2015 to give Democrats breathing room until after 2014....

...to give Democrats breathing room until after 2014 midterm elections, says Treasury source

A Treasury Department official who declined to be named confirmed to MailOnline on Tuesday that the Obama administration will not begin enforcing employer mandates in the Obamacare law until 2015 - one year later than originally planned - and pinned that change of direction on a combination of politics and economic realities in the marketplace.

Mark Mazur, the Assistant Treasury Secretary for Tax Policy, announced on the agency's blog that the administration 'will provide an additional year before the ... mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements begin.'

[snip] But the Treasury source said the extra year will give the White House an extra year to persuade health insurers to participate in the exchanges that make up the backbone of the Affordable Care Act.

The revised timetable, the source added, will also push back the final implementation of Obamacare's penalties past the 2014 midterm elections, providing Republicans fewer chances to highlight the law's potentially harmful effects on businesses' bottom lines.

Proves that it’s a failure. They must see some political gain here. They wouldn’t do it otherwise.

If its a great thing, why wait? If we’re going to love it, why not get it going so they can run on it in 2014?

If the president is a mere president, how can he unilaterally decide to delay implementation of a law duly passed by congress?

This gives time for employers to cut payrolls and reduce individual hours..in the meantime the individual mandate stands..putting the young and the low paid in a real fiscal bind.

so can he pick and choose which laws and parts of them can happen now?

It seems like he sort of has line-item veto power on post-past bills.

How about delaying implementation of the individual mandate, too. If fact, let’s delay implementing the entire dang thing. Heck, let’s just call the whole thing off.

When will GOP leaders take to the microphones to explain to America why Obama has made this move?

Businesses have no ability to plan in the face of such uncertainty. It’s no wonder the economy has failed to achieve liftoff in the last 4 years.

Obamacare employer mandate delayed until 2015 to give Democrats breathing room until after 2014....

I think there are additional forces at work here:

1. Perhaps 0bama has been given the word that the "RECOVERY" will falter and the economy is about to take a nosedive. By delaying the employer mandate he can claim that 0bamacare had nothing to do with the coming 0bama Depression.

2. Low information voters, those with short attention spans, and those who just aren't quite sure what planet this is (0bama voters all) will forget that the mandate is an economy killer (if they ever were able to put 2 and 2 together and figure it out) and vote for the slimeball socialist dims, that shoved this down out throats in the first place, in the 2014 elections, .

3. Delaying the inevitable catastrophe until 2015 means that all the problems will belong to Madam Benghazi after the 2016 elections (IF voters don't wise up before then and of course if emperor 0bama decides to leave the white hut "prison").

Not much breathing room. The November 2014 midterms are just a few months before the Jan 1, 2015 implementation date. Businesses will be well on their way in their strategies on how to deal with it. And the individual mandate will already be in effect.

We need to do some kind of civil demonstration to pressure our legislators. They think they can just hang tough and we'll be rolled under the bus with Obamacare.

How about public challenges that they should remove their own exemptions???
