The U.S. Government Wednesday panned Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's most recent speech to the Egyptian people, saying the address fell short of detailing the reforms the Egyptian leader needed to promise to quell massive street protests.
State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the U.S. "felt there was an absence of significant, specific steps" in Morsi's Tuesday night speech. "Unfortunately, that was not a part of what he talked about in his speech.....There's more that he needs to do," she added during a daily briefing for reporters.
The comments expressed a greater degree of U.S. dissatisfaction with Morsi than previously acknowledged by U.S. officials. However, Psaki insisted that the criticism did not reflect a U.S. decision to back the opposition or the military.

Proving, once again, that Obama is destroying America’s reliablity as an ally.
Obama has basically abandoned EVERY ally we have when it is convenient for HIM.
Ruining America’s reputation for DECADES to come.
Like planned.
Nice try, Obama. The Egyptian people HATE you!
How many billions of taxpayer aid did the Kenyan Marxist give to his Islamic Brotherhood buddy, Morsi. Now Obama is throwing Morsi under the bus. Obama — Always leading from behind.
Why would Obama move away from Morsi? Morsi represented the “Arab
Spring” that Obama, Hillary, Rinos and the media supported?
This reflects more on illegitimate homosexual Moslem US Presidents than the rest of us.
There is one more left Saudi Arabia. And I can’t wait. Talk about the head of the snake.
Translation by the US Regime, "There were not enough lies, deceit, and manipulation to quiet the masses. Oh! maybe the Egyptians are not as stupid as American voters.
That’s okay. We back away and abandon anyone, even Americans, in the Middle East when the Muslims get to a-hootin’ and a-hollerin’
The head of the snake is Iran. Nobody finances terrorism as much as they do.
Morsi would never have attained power if not for the military, in the first place. The next in line here will be a radical Islamist too.
Obama acted arrogantly...again.
I will bet that Morsy gets his “ticket” punched within the next two weeks.
Oh, I agree...but consider how damaging it has been to this nation.
WHAT nation, in the future, will TRUST America? They will look at this current Clown and say “Well, why should we form an alliance with YOU, President X? Look at how fast B. Hussein Obama walked away from (insert any name here).”
That was my only point. Hell, Obama walked away from the doctor in Pakistan who HELPED our SEALS find bin Laden! And as far as I am concerned, Obama did PLENTY to expose the Navy SEALS who *did* get bin Laden...and many of those brave men died.
Look at what Obama did to our OWN people in Benghazi....let them die at the hands of Al Qaeda. On purpose.
He is into negative territory on the trust factor, and in the eyes of foreign nations, that taints the rest of America....because other people will see that we won’t keep our word.
Another Hillary state department success!!!!!
I disagree. The Egyptian economy is in shambles, and the military has a vested interest in turning it around. For Egypt, that means one thing: reviving the tourism sector, and the military understands that won't happen under a radical Islamist state.
Jay Carney: “The administration supports, and continues to support, whomever it is in the Egyptian government that’s currently holding a gun and appears to be in control. We continue to congratulate and welcome whomever’s ‘Arab Spring’ it happens to be over there at the present time.”
I’d like to point out one thing regarding foreign aid to Egypt — we are obligated to provide military assistance to Egypt as part of the Camp David accord. Consequently, Obama would have to abrogate a treaty agreement with Egypt in order to stop providing military assistance. The implications of violating a binding diplomatic treaty under international law are severe. In any event, foreign aid will continue with or without Obama’s support unless Egypt or the USA violates / exits the Camp David accord.
