Commit Any Felonies Lately?

Elizabeth Daly went to jail over a case of bottled water. According to the Charlottesville Daily Progress, shortly after 10 p.m. April 11, the University of Virginia student bought ice cream, cookie dough and a carton of LaCroix sparkling water from the Harris Teeter grocery store at the popular Barracks Road Shopping Center. In the parking lot, a half-dozen men and a woman approached her car, flashing some kind of badges. One jumped on the hood. Another drew a gun. Others started trying to break the windows.

This should be a capital crime. Not the bottled water, the reaction.

And yet the same authorities have no appetite to follow obvious leads and apprehend suspected terrorists. I mean the real terrorists.

Daly understandably panicked. With her roommate in the passenger seat yelling “Go, go, go!” Daly drove off, hoping to reach the nearest police station. The women dialed 911. Then a vehicle with lights and sirens pulled them over, and the situation clarified: The people who had swarmed Daly’s vehicle were plainclothes agents of the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The agents had thought the sparkling water was a 12-pack of beer.

If this is indeed the case, and the women used deadly force against idiotic cops and I was on that jury would not hesitate to acquit her, make sure the family gets every last penny the agency has, or put them all in prison.

Secondly, no way would I pull over until I reached a mall or other will lit heavily populated area. Preferably a WalMart or other box store where I know they have cameras monitoring the parking lot.

Looked at Drudge, and actually clicked a few links.

Signed onto FR. Read some. Posted smart remarks.

Caused abuse of Govt. resources by causing NSA to record my activities.

Thought about my boating accident and loss of property (not any guns, for sure).

And I had many, many felonious thoughts. Make that MANY, MANY, MANY.

As I’ve read over and over again - they scared the crap out of that girl and her friend. They went over the top. They acted just like LEO Neanderthals and should be fired but they won’t. The head cop will say they acted withing protocol’s and guidelines. I’m just wondering what would have happened if she had a licensed gun and started shooting. The cops were just plain dump - the IQ of a Yugo.

As pointed out in the article, we are coming to the point, if not already past it, where we violate a law just by living. This is how governments aggregate their power but there is a danger to government that goes along with the power.

While the proof is repeated in history, I recall an ancient fable that illustrates what happens when the screws are applied too tightly.

Several men are summoned by their superiors to join the army to suppress a rebellion. Failure to arrive in time is the same as being in rebellion, yet through no fault of their own they are delayed. Thus being lawful is more dangerous than rebelling. The response is obvious to a free person, is it not?

Keep the Second Amendment and your powder dry! Bureaucrats hate the consequences!
