The grieving parents of a 19-year-old Idaho woman who died serving her country thousands of miles from home say the U.S. Air Force won't give them information about the circumstances of her death.

Airman 1st Class Kelsey Sue Anderson of Orofino died June 9, 2011, at Andersen Air Force Base on the island of Guam, a U.S. territory in the Pacific Ocean 3,300 miles west of Hawaii. The military has reported she committed suicide.

But Chris and Adelia Sue Anderson, her parents, filed a lawsuit last month in U.S. District Court to force the Air Force to respond to their Freedom of Information Act request seeking more information about how their daughter died.

We had an experience in our extended family where a cousin got in a bad car accident while in the army. Because he was young and had no power of attorney medically or personal, his parents were unable to see even the accident report or get into his apartment for documents! He was OWNED by the government. After he was released from the public hospital and taken to base, they were limited to their contact with him.

So, I can imagine what these parents have been through and are going through. Parents need to take these stories and remember that although their children are single and out of the house, if something happens and they need to access some part of their lives, they’d better have a POA, otherwise they are wards of the state.

Who’d of thought this a few decades ago but government is taking over in all aspects of our life when THEY think something was done wrong.

You feel bad for the girl,certainly...as well as her parents. But kids that age *do* commit suicide, particularly when they’re unhappy in their job and they’re about 10,000 miles from home. And who knows, maybe she just found out that she was gonna be getting orders for Afghanistan.Hell,*I* certainly got pretty damn down at Fort Knox when I was her age.I wonder what the family suspects?

They do but they can also be driven to it or be assisted in the process. That’s why the facts are important.

A female friend of Ben Jr. was thinking of throwing herself off the deck of a carrier. Fortunately, someone heard her talking about it and called in the medical people.

Unless things have changed since I was in they most likely wouldn’t send her to an overseas base directly from another. She most likely wouldn’t have known her next duty assignment at that time in her tour.

There’s only a few things to see on Guam and those can be done in one day. The beaches aren’t that great.

Unfortunately “suicide” is very easy to stage if a predator got their daughter, or if a rape or roughhouse session got out of hand. She was a very attractive young girl

Also unfortunately some Commander would probably prefer to NOT get involved in investigating and prosecuting rape, since there now is so much pressure in the DOD to track military sexual assaults and track and hold the Commanders accountable for their actions in dealing with it.

Suicide is much less paperwork and less career threatening

Of course the parents would want a coroners report and other information about the forensic investigation that led to this determination. There are lifelong repercussions of a child's suicide, social stigma, anger guilt, religious not to mention insurance implications.

When they are 19 they are still your children.
Just give her parents the damn medical reports and paperwork!! WTH is wrong with the leadership in this obama-rotted military?

I just heard a radio interview with the parents of a dead Seal Team 6 member Aaron Vaughn seeking answers and justice for their son

They were reluctant to talk about the Dod appointed muslim who spoke at their son's memorial service and called for infidels to be damned...because Not only have their lives been THREATENED by jihadists and the military NO HELP, the military told them to keep their mouths shut about their questions

I would strongly agitate against my sons joining the military right now. The administration is too corrupt, top down. I respect and appreciate the soldiers who are serving, still.

As for my daughters I’d physically lie in front of a recruiting station to keep them out. NO WAY.

That or she committed suicide because something happened of that nature. I agree... somewhere on that base is a man--or two or three--who know exactly what happened.

Sadly, the answer is in your comment: our military is “Obama-rotted”. It makes me so angry and heartsick to read about the suffering of this poor family. They just want answers. The lack of response is an inhumane cruelty.

I’m bookmarking this.

Of course the Feds don't need any authorization to get information on you.
