Good thing they weren’t Hispanic or African or African-American Geese.
There would have been riots in the street.
Unfortunately, this is only temporary.
The flock will be back as others in the area come from in after there is a vacuum of geese.
144 geese are a very small number compared to what is all around.
My subdivision went through the same thing a few years ago. They decided on hiring a geese deterrent specialist who had border collies chase them.
Apparently, border collies freak out the birds with the way they look at them and they love the water and will follow the birds into the lake.
It was very cool to watch and entertaining as well.
It chases them out for a while but after the dogs stop haunting the lake, dog cutouts keep them away longer.

They need to increase the bag limit or opening and closing dates for hunting season.

I’m a 44 year CA resident, and when I would go ‘home’ to Long Island to visit relatives, this scene was disgusting.
And that was years ago.
The geese apcray was ruining parts of the mighty Jones Beach area, on the Atlantic Ocean.
And ruining the pristine Northport Harbor on the Long Island Sound.
And places all over Long Island I never saw.
Super disgusting, pitifull, stupid, and senseless.
Imagine the residents having to put up with this nonsense???
I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Have no idea what’s going on there now.

Beautiful - until they crap all over your lawn, your sidewalk, the park, the parking lot, your deck..... Having found the perfect socialist paradise (lots of food, no need to “work” by migrating, and no threats), they simply multiply until they reach the point at which they become a health hazard.
The sky rats are a big problem...apparently many do not migrate any longer, they just hang out living the good life.
I used to officiate football in Reno, Nv and the damn goose crap on the fields was miserable. The town actually paid folks with border collies and aussie shepherds to harass the geese to try to get them to relocate.
The Gators will need to be moved frequently to continue to fool the geese....I have been told that ,at least for now, shot gun shells are cheaper and more effective.
Canada geese, not Canadian geese. Although it would be possible for the geese to be from Canada and therefore be "Canadian," the article implies that is not the case:
"The geese lived in Gaston County Park in Dallas for a decade..."
Leave it to the government to gas the geese and bury them. What a waste of edible meat.
Euthanized? Why not a kosher slaughter, and fed to the homeless or indigent?
