One in five Conservative Party members are on the verge of switching to the UK Independence Party, a new poll suggests.
In a further sign of the schism between the party leadership and the grassroots, more than half do not believe they are respected by David Cameron and his top team.
There is also deep-rooted opposition to flagship coalition policies including legalizing gay marriage and protecting the foreign aid budget from cuts. …

Guess being a “liberal Conservative” didn’t work out very well for Cameron, did it. A legacy of division and destruction. One in five Tory party members ready to switch to UKIP as survey reveals almost half have given up campaigning for Cameron
The Tories suffer from the same disease as the Republicans do here.
Me-Too Socialism..............
One in five REPUBLICAN party members ready to switch to INDEPENDENT or TEA PARTY…almost half given up campaigning for REPUBLICANS.
There, now it applies to us.
McCain, Boehner, et al...quit breathing now and save the party and the country. You are worthless. Believe it and just go away and die.
Now.
With the “first-past-the-post” system of elections; a divided right ensures a left-of-centre government. Canada went through a long period of Liberal rule, while the right was divided. Under proportional representation, people could vote for the party that best represents them. Coalitions would then be formed within Parliament (rather than in advance, in back rooms, as they are now). It’s likely that UKIP would have a lot more support, if right-leaning voters weren’t voting strategically, for fear of giving the election to the leftists.
The USA doesn’t have a “divided right”. It has wolves in sheep’s clothing that claim to be conservative but really are liberal. Most likely a regrouping right after the big deception.
I would dearly love to see Nigal Farage elected PM. He would be great.
I sometimes wish we had a more third party friendly political structure here in the US. A top two run off system if no one gets 50% would get rid of the stigma of voting third party.
yet the left is united in socialism.
division is not good for conservatives.
The “conservatives” favor a slower path to socialism like Medicare Part D from George W Bush.
“division is not good for conservatives”
Conservatives are not divided. Republicans are. Principle to truth vs Collusion for power?
If I’m going down either way I’d prefer it not be as a useful idiot.
Cameron has REALLY screwed the pooch. His pro-sodomy position, ahem, really made me walk away from my support for him from across the pond.
I seriously considered sending money to the Conservative Party, but then he began to embrace Obama and celebrate perversion.
Glad I held off...he showed his true colors.
Thanks Olog-hai.
