House overrides governor's veto of concealed carry bill

The Illinois House, with no debate, voted 77-31 today to override Gov. Pat Quinn’s changes to a compromise plan to regulate the concealed carrying of firearms in the state.

The state Senate must also vote to override Quinn’s rewrite of the bill for the measure to become law. That vote is expected later today.

The Senate is playing games. We may yet have the “cliff”.

I wish these legislatures could vote “blind.” It’s almost always just theater when they vote, because the predetermined outcome is already bought and paid for. Therefore, those in power can needle and bride just enough legislators to move their way. And knowing that you’re the most valuable legislator in the entire House on a particular issue as the “swing” vote adds to the corruption.

Illinois’ irrelevant governor managed to turn 10 votes, he needed 19.

Democrats will help save face by considering the changes in the amendatory veto separately from the override, but the override is still expected to happen easily.

Quinn seems to have forgotten where Springfield is. Quinn seems to have forgotten that Illinois extends west of I-294 or south of I-80. Quinn is too busy in Chicago palling around with Michael Pfleger to participate in Illinois government.

I think Quinn is too. He’s not very smart, but maybe smart enough to make a campaign issue out of what will hopefully be a symbolic veto.

I don’t know much about the bill. Does it address reciprocity with other states?

Anyone know?

Will I be able to drive through IL without pulling over to unload, package my ammo and gun separately and then re-place them in the automobile out of reach of drivers and all passengers? Or will I just drive through the state with my piece holstered on my hip like most other states?

Hey Governor...

“This is what DEMOCRACY looks like...”

Love using that back at them...

As an Illinois resident I can safely assume reciprocity is not very likely since training classes for Illinois CCW permit will be much longer than in other states. The Dems will do everything they can to gum up the works.

People are finally getting it. It’s not just about guns. It’s about governments taking away our freedoms.

Just voted to be allowed to lick the boots of those who will permit us to do what our founding fathers already said we could.

Victory?

The Senate voted to override Quinn 41-17 today. But, it looks like actual permitting is 6-9 months or more away after the bureaucracy turns its slow wheels.

>>Victory?

Hell yes, it is a huge victory!

The Progressives win by small victories. Freedom loses by tiny cuts. We need to learn to celebrate small victories as well as big ones.
