Snake on a train: Reptile slithers onto flooded Toronto rail car

About 15 minutes after a commuter GO Train left Toronto’s Union Station, it halted as the Don Valley filled with storm water from the deluge. Passengers were stuck in the train for more than six hours. And they weren’t alone.
There was a snake on the train. A harmless snake, most likely, but it was yet another unwanted piece to what had become a disastrous commute for the 1,400 people stuck in the swamped train.

Do they even have venomous snakes in Canada?
Probably some type of rattlesnake and maybe copperheads. I can’t imagine cottonmouths or coral snakes that far North.

The only one I’m aware of is the massassauga rattlesnake, native to Southern Ontario. Lots of harmless snakes around here.

I’ve seen more than a few reptiles on Boston’s “T” as well as the NYC Subway....but they were always of the Phylum “biped”.
