Heh, the sail from the sub I qualified on (the Los Angeles) ended up in Los Angeles in 3 pieces.

Along with the fairwater planes.

The Navy League is taking donations to put them back together for a memorial.

In San Diego visiting. Crossed to Coronado and drove south to Imperial beach state park. Only wanted to hang out an hour or so. The young lady said it still cost 10 bucks to park. I paid 10 bucks to get sunburned in an hour. The lot was practically empty, so there you go.

BTW, the place is awesome, as far as Pacific beaches. Watch the warships from the beach, as they depart San Diego Harbor to do what ever it is they do every day.

One last one:

From Road Side America link about your Devilboat:

Is it a sign of the End Times when submarines start surfacing in Idaho? Another landlocked Naval vessel is in South Dakota.

That lake is 5th deepest in U.S.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Pend_Oreille

Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced: pond-o-ray) is a lake in the northern Idaho Panhandle, with a surface area of 148 square miles (380 km2). It is 43 miles (69 km) long, and 1,150 feet (350 m) deep in some regions, making it the fifth deepest in the United States.

Yeah, that’s true, most of the shoreline is unpopulated (must be hard to believe for people in different parts of the country).

Continuing the travelogue...

Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort just outside of Sandpoint, ID is excellent also. Sandpoint is an excellent town to stay in and is right on the lake shore (lake often partially frozen during ski season — not sure if it ever freezes across the entire surface).

An, I bet it’s beautiful up there.

Always think of Mark Fuhrman and Sandpoint.

Funny.

That was my 1st thought as well.

For a bit more you can stay in some dump hotel and walk in the park.

You get a sense os privacy, hot shower, hot coffee, etc.

Still, I’d pay it because I want to sleep outside. I love being outside.

I can see how strictly city types would find the $35 campsite fee a barrier. Particularly if you don’t feel compelled to camp and deal with the inconveniences of sleeping bag bunking.

$60 bucks to go fishing and the wardens aren’t using the monies to replenish stocks?

Yer KuhRayZee and a thief.

I wouldn’t find a fishing tag for $60 bucks onerous if I knew the monies they ask god were used for the stated purpose.

There’s a sub outside Muskogee, OK as well. Always thought it was funny to drive past.

And Sarah Palin. She was born in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Arco might make some sense as the burial place for a nuclear sub, as it was the first town in the US fully powered by nuclear energy.
