Let me get this straight, the NYT actually thinks that North Carolina is declining?

And perhaps that New York is ascending?

Bwahahahahahahah!

You clowns are pretty close to having a Weiner as mayor of teh city...after having a d*ck as mayor.

STFU.

Golly, who didn't see this kind of by-the-numers leftism coming from the MSM?

The democrats create the need, and anyone who tries to undo later it is a cruel hearted b*stard.

Not a single care in the world for the people who have to pay for the progressives bribes to the 'less fortunate'.

“Least fortunate” never seems to apply to abortion though, eh?

Are these the same ‘least fortunate’ that still have a roof over their heads, A/C, a car, cell phone(s), video game consoles, ‘free’ food/medical/education, etc., etc, etc.??

Seems to me, it’s the taxpayers that are the least FORTUNATE, as they get their paychecks docked by FORCE OF GOV’T. to pay for these ‘least fortunate’

The Left is just angry because they thought had captured North Carolina forever because it voted for Obama in 2008 — and like Muslims, they believe once they have conquered a land, it’s theirs forever. They view North Carolina like the jihadists view Spain and Portugal. It’s forever a mark of failure that drives them crazy. This is why the ACLU is suing North Carolina over passing a constitutional amendment supporting traditional marriage. I say hooray for conservatism in North Carolina. Long may it live. To hell with the New York Slimes! To hell with the Left!

May the NY Times remain a third-rate fishwrap and a fourth-rate birdcage liner. It is none of their damn business what gets done or not done in NC.

As a Raleigh, North Carolina resident, I will not justify this pile of NYT drivel with a comment. The Genereal Assembly, Governor and Council of State here were legitimately elected.

As a resident, I felt the need to comment at the NYT site - doubt it will be "approved" by the "moderator", as contrary thoughts are verboten.

"Cognitive dissonance, thy name is the New York Times! Within the same article, tne NYT editors lament that NC has the 5th highest unemployment rate nationally, and dwells at 46th in educational performance. Then, as if it cannot be correlated, they note that the Republicans have had control of the Governorship and Legislature only since last fall, and for the first time in decades.

The voters of our State recognize what the NYT does not - it is the policies and practices of our previous Democrat leaders that put us into the situation we are in today. We voted to remove them from office, and to replace their dated and failing policies with those that would promote economic growth and development - lower taxes, and smaller and less costly government.

Of course the liberals and progressives will squeal ("Moral Mondays") - they've been feeding at the government trough for decades, and the party is now over.

Give us a few years, then check in. You'll see the same positive results that have been experienced, for example, in Wisconsin, where common sense and pro-growth policies were implemented by new Republican leadership following decades of Democrat rule and corruption. It's not rocket-science. Such policies are working equally well in Indiana, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, South Dakota, and more.

If there is some good that might come from this editorial, it's that it might staunch the flow of north-east liberals that have been fleeing high-tax nanny-states like New York."

The only ABSOLUTE INDICATOR OF RIGHTNESS in this world, is when the New York Times pens an editorial decrying your works.

It is an absolute and reliable metric.

Boo-hoo.....Weiner’s people are unhappy with NC because the sane producers in NY state are heading there to make a living. NY will be left with a massive welfare program, full of loafers and no cash to keep them happy, a dangerous prospect indeed.

The regime via the NYT is scared s*#tless that the NC phenom of turning down the tap on government social programs will catch on across the nation. NC is causing the fed beast enough alarm to put the media monkeys on it.

The power pendulum has swung way too far to the left and we are now living under the oppression of the minority.

A single person claiming to be offended can change what 1,000s are doing.

A single person claiming racism can demand the government discriminate against most of the citizens.

A completely unqualified person can become president if they are a minority.

If this is going to be life under minorities I can only imagine how low the country will sink when they become a majority.

Whoa...between Ruger building a new factory here, something about the ACLU telling us we got the wrong answer on our domestic math equation (Marriage = Man+Women) and now NYT all a blather about the republicans in Raleigh and McCrory's not even been office a year?

North Carolina is showing some potential to be the East coast's version of Texas.

(Bible belt, NASCAR and no scorpions...just sayin')

In January, after the election of Pat McCrory as governor, Republicans took control of both the executive and legislative branches for the first time since Reconstruction. Since then, state government has become a demolition derby, tearing down years of progress in public education, tax policy, racial equality in the courtroom and access to the ballot.

To me this sounds like a good thing. Congratulations, North Carolina!

My brother and his wife retired from Minnesota to North Carolina a few years ago. He must be loving this.
