If Zimmerman is unlikely convicted, this is immediate grounds for a mistrial. This judge is completely wacko and does not rule on the law.
To: servo1969
The Judge in the Zimmerman trial just ruled that the jury will not get to see numerous text messages on Trayvon Martins phone regarding his prowess at fighting, including texts as to how to punch someone in the nose and make them bleed. Is the judge a democrat?

When a woman shoots an unarmed boyfriend or husband, and her attorney is making a self-defense argument, pretty much every thing the decedent wrote or said is admitted as potentially exculpatory evidence.

This judge is a real piece of work. Reminds me of the FL kangaroo supreme court re: Bush v Gore back in 2000

Just to fill in a gap from Branca’s remarks, the basis for Nelson’s ruling was that the evidence did not fall within a hearsay exception. She claimed that she addressed the constitutional argument in a previous ruling.

I just watched the
VIDEO of the proper that was held last night with the gentleman who recovered these texts regarding a gun and St. Trayvon fighting with someone who "snitched" on him.

Absolutely pathetic. They go to the heart of who he was. The only upside is that this makes a great reason to overturn the case on appeal should things not go Zimmerman’s way.
Why would anyone be opposed to openness, especially when a man’s life is on the line?

"Judge Debra Nelson said she will allow defense lawyers to show jurors the computer animation during closing arguments. But she rejected the defense bid to present the animation as actual evidence, which means the animation can't be reviewed by jurors during their deliberations. "

St Skiddles is not the one on trial, even though his entire family, and skank ho, got a chance to take a poke at George.
Amazing how this "judge" allowed hearsay from all trademarks friends, but wont allow trademark himself to be presented!

I like that they can use the demo animation in the closing argument, that is probably even better (no cross examination by the idiot prosecutors?)
But the texts should absolutely have been let in- they show the budding young THUG Traycon was, not the saint skittles they portray

Bad call. I don’t know Florida rules of evidence, but in many states this sort of evidence is admissible in self-defense cases to show the dead guy was the initial aggressor.
