Express your Christian Belief – Get Fined $30,000

Ming Linsley, left, and Kate Baker smile after winning $30,000 from a Vermont Bed and Breakfast. The owners of the Bed-and-Breakfast made the mistake of expressing their religious beliefs to the couple.

It cost them dearly.

In Vermont – Gay rights trump Religious rights

Yesterday, I spoke with Jim Campbell from the ADF about this recent case of Christian persecution. A Bed and Breakfast expressed their religious beliefs to a same-sex couple and ended up paying $30,000 in fines.

Townhall reported on the settlement last year.

A Vermont bed and breakfast has settled a lawsuit brought by the state’s Human Rights Commission and two women who wanted to have a same-sex wedding reception on the inn’s property.

The Wildflower Inn in Lyndonville agreed to pay $10,000 to the Vermont Human Rights Commission as a civil penalty for violating Vermont’s Fair Housing and Public Accommodations Act as well as $20,000 in a charitable trust to be controlled by the couple, the Burlington Free Press reported Aug. 23.

“The Wildflower Inn has always served — and will continue to serve — everyone in our community. But no one can force us to abandon our deeply held beliefs about marriage,” owner Jim O’Reilly, a Catholic, said in a statement. “Our beliefs haven’t changed, but we do have lives to live, a family to love, a business to grow, and a community to serve.

“Small businesses like ours cannot match the limitless resources of the government and the,” O’Reilly said. “Ongoing litigation like this can cripple any small business and the livelihood of its owners, so we’re relieved to put this ordeal behind us.”

Small business should start accepting business from the LGBT community. However, rather then make an issue of their life stlye, simply provide the worst service/products possible.

I hope they choke on their award. The business owners should appeal on a 1st Amendment basis.

That’s 2 bed and breakfasts, 1 florist and 1 cake baker that I know of that have been sued for not catering to gay weddings. I bet the gays will now call all wedding caterers until they find one that refuses service to them, and then sue that business until all businesses will have to choose between living according to their conscience or going out of business.

Over the past few years, a growing number of Somali taxi drivers in the Twin Cities have been interpreting Koranic prohibitions on carrying alcohol to include ferrying passengers with alcohol in their bags.

“If you are a cabdriver and a practicing Muslim, you can’t carry alcohol,” said Idris Mohamed, an adjunct professor of strategic management at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul. “It would be the same for a practicing Christian trying to honor their beliefs.”

When we get a Christian president again, maybe that’ll change, huh?

No, always preface comments with this line: Islam and the Koran says that Gays.....

You can get away with virtually anything if preceded by that line...

...$20,000 in a charitable trust to be controlled by the couple

Who's responsible for monitoring this trust's assets, I wonder? The owners should demand the right to watch it like a hawk, and then sue the dykes for misappropriation when they shop for a new vibrator with it.

And to think they just “wanted government out of our bedrooms”, only to force it on the rest of us.

I’m not holding my breath for a sodomite or carpet mucher to sue a Muslim business for refusing to “celebrate” their perverted lives.

Whose to say you have to quote them the same price as you would a straight couple? There are variables that go into calculating the quote for a wedding reception, just as there are variables that go into quoting the price to design, bake and decorate a special wedding cake.

No, because the sodomites have used the courts to have forced “tolerance” of their perversion written in stone. And we all know that once the left and their constituents achieve a victory through courts and the law, they consider it settled for all eternity (don’t they have a surprise coming if they don’t repent).

What if a business puts it in their advertising, charter, whatever, that they only cater to Christians? Can they do that?

Easy to subvert.
They call without mentioning their perversion, then when ready to seal the deal, they out themselves.
