With the Chicago Independence Day Massacre now over until next weekend, there will be talking heads pontificating yet again about what we can do to stop the violence in the presidents hometown and in every other city in America.
The left will clamor for more gun control, more common sense gun laws and restrictions, blah blah blah, as their panacea to stop the nightly slaughter. Chicago already has the strictest gun control laws in the nation and some of the highest rates of violence. Write this down somebody: Gun control doesnt work.
Ive heard it all before. None of their transparent hyperbole, none of their feelgood showboating marches, all the nonsensical counterproductive gun buy-back programs, none of their fact-void clamor for more gun control laws, all of their mindless demonstrations, etc. etc. etc., have achieved a damn thing. Ever. Nothing.
The weekly body counts in Chicago, New Orleans and other cities resemble war zones. The ugly truth is that certain neighborhoods in our cities are terminal war zones where life is cheap.
This isnt a gun problem, and no new gun laws are going to solve it. The societal wound is much deeper than simply laying the problem at the doorstep of the NRA. That may make the left feel good, but it wont stop the killing.
The underlying reason for the nonstop slaughter has been the 50-year-old welfare state that has wreaked a terrible and costly destruction on the black family.
Prior to the creation of the liberal welfare state, the majority of black families had a dad, the illegitimacy rate was roughly a third of what it is today, high-school drop out rates were much lower, drug use much lower, incarceration rates were lower, and divorce rates were in the single digits.

amen
I’d be shocked if most of those gangsta thugs killing the bros in Chicago read the Limbaugh Letter or Imprimis...
65 years ago we dropped two atom bombs on Japan, and at about the same time Democrats gained control over Detroit. Today, look at Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Detroit and see which fate is worse for a city: getting nuked, or electing Democrats perpetually.
good points.
democrats are worse than anytyhing
Someone had a post up with pic comparing that very thing a while back. It really put into perspective just how much MORE destructive liberalism/Democrats are than nuclear weapons.
Hell, people need to let that sink in a min. And I mean put some actual thought into it. The left can’t deny it with any credibility. The proof is there for all to see.
There fixed your sentence!
Only if it’s not in cursive...
Amen.
I was just watching the ganglandia problem in Baltimore.
The problem stems from FATHERLESS BOYS. Boys are supposed to learn how to deal with adult male authority from their father. African-American boys have to learn how to deal with adult male white authority from their father.
Apparently fathers aren't around. I know why, obviously, but then, so does the entire enlightened society we live in.
However, girls/women can't be FORCED to get an education, THEN get a job, THEN get married and THEN have children. They can do whatever the H-E-double hockey sticks they want. Where are their parents? Who knows.
>> African-American boys have to learn how to deal with adult male white authority from their father.
Black boys need to be responsible. Stop making excuses. And cut out the “white authority” nonsense.
I wonder why you think that I am making excuses for them. I wasn't. Just stating facts, sad facts.
I taught at a community college for 27 years and saw young people doing good things. I NEVER made excuses for them when they did bad/stupid things. Didn't have to. They ALL knew right from wrong. But you know that, just as you know that I wasn't making excuses for them. It was just a chance for you to bash speak your mind.
By the way, if young people aren't TAUGHT right from wrong, where are they supposed to get their values? Osmosis? Ouija boards? Crystal balls? Values have to be taught. Not everyone gets that. But, then, you know that too.
They need to learn how to deal with authority. PERIOD. Doesn't matter if it is black, white, or purple.
Accusatory?? Lol. I wonder how IN THE WORLD any part of my statements could be described as accusatory.
Also, I have NEVER been "accused" of being sensitive, quite the reverse. I feel almost complimented! :o):o)
I was an educator at the community college level, always teaching adults. I USED to teach the lower grades but got tired of it. Community college was WONDERFUL. I finally retired after 27+ years there. It was a FABULOUS way to make a living but since I was almost 70 -- it WAS time to go.
You're preaching to the choir. Remember, I brought it up.
I wasn’t preaching or arguing, just clarifying they have a problem with any authority. :-)
I disagree with the premise that fatherless families and “white authority” are the chains that otherwise constrain free men. The factors that in your view contribute to dereliction are not going to change in the foreseeable future, and to pretend otherwise is to excuse the results.
Fatherless families and "white authority" -- that's what I get when I write about them. I taught in the public schools for eons and saw the ravages of MANY, but not ALL, fatherless families. Mothers usually did pretty good jobs. Many of those fatherless families relied on grandparents. That worked too. It just wasn't a model that works the best for children. That's MY belief.
They certainly don't constrain men. Fatherless boys miss out on what good fathers can give them. There are plenty of bad fathers, bad/good mothers. It's a no-win to talk about them and I'm sorry I even mentioned it.
I even had a student whose father was a pimp. The girl was 13 years old. "Dad" didn't look like he was even 30 years old. I was having trouble with the girl and wanted to see a parent, so "Fillmore Slim" showed up in his pearl gray silk suit, hat, matching shoes, CAPE and silver Cadillac. The daughter says that he would hit her because "he beats his womens." unquote.
The talk went well. He sent the daughter to her grandmother, his mother, in Mississippi.
I was really shocked at seeing "dad" but I had to admit that he DID care enough to show up for my little school meeting with the dean and me and he did care enough to arrange a life for her with his mother.
I hope she turned out all right.
