Wegmans makes more money!! Yeh for Danny and his yacht club buddies.

Their prices are ridiculous.

Then, by all means, don't shop there.

I love Wegmans. I am there sometimes three times a day.

The employees are amazing. I’ve been shopping there for my entire adult life and I have honestly NEVER had a bad experiance.

Yes, they are a few dollars more then their competitors. But they have EXTREMELY high standards of food for the products that bear the Wegmans name.

The one or two times I’ve had to return something, they have done so cheerfully and without a receipt.

These people UNDERSTAND customer service and quality and I recommend that anyone in upstate New York who is considering starting their own service based business spend a few times shopping at Wegmans to see firsthand how extremely good service will have customers lining up even if it’s a few bucks more.

Oh, one other strange thing.... I’ve also NEVER seen angry upset customers in Wegmans. At other grocers I always seem to see people just shy of getting into shouting matches with managers, etc. Nothing like that at Weggies ever. The shoppers are all nice to one another and theres lots of smiling and friendly chatter.

I used to hate going to the store - now I’m there 2-3 times a day. :)

I live in Texas, so I haven't had an opportunity to shop at Wegman's.

However, speaking as one who spent most of my career in marketing grocery products -- working with companies like Procter & Gamble and Borden -- I can assure you that Wegman's reputation in the grocery business is well-known and highly respected nationally.

They are recognized as a very special grocery chain -- not only by their customers, but by their suppliers.

“Their prices are ridiculous. “

Uh huh.

Yeah. They suck so bad at everything they do they are the number one highest regarded grocery chain in America.

They are consistently rated as highest in customer satisfaction and quality of service. They are consistently rated as one of the best employers in the entire country.

So it is obvious they must not know how to set pricing.

And they are mostly non-union. The pricks.

Those monster deli counters can be a real hoot! You can drop a lot of money on the Kosher one too. What other store has several hundred feet, as well as a Kosher section, rotissorie as well as other food prepared Kosher?

The many prepared food bars have gone up in price lately, but still a nice meal and a clean upstairs balcony to eat. Lots of people meeting for lunch here in VA.

Those unfamiliar with Wegmans need to know: this is a grocery chain so impressive it is, I kid you not, at the top of the “you gotta see this” list for visitors.

If you think the prices are high...you are looking at the premium offerings.

I know lots of people who think a 12-16 dollar pie for a dinner party is worth every penny...hand made and rolled with about double a frozen pie filling.

The french brick oven bakery products are no more than other stores specialty breads and they are fresh and you can sample the options that fit your meal...White Mountain bread makes the best toast you ever spread with jelly. I’ll take one slice over 2-3 of “dumb” white bread from the shelf.

Buy their connoli shells and filling and make your own for 1/2 the price and have them fresh and the way you like them! Guests feel special and I deserve the finest too.

When the Wegmen's near me opened last year, they actually had --- no lie --- bus trips from as far as 75 miles away for folks who wanted to come and "tour."

I know that sounds insane, but it's the truth!

I didn’t say the prices were too high. What you read was a quote from another poster, to whom I was replying.

Hint: when something is inside of these -—> “ “ then that something was most likely first written by someone other than the person who wrote what you are reading.

Apparently you don’t understand sarcasm, even when it is self evident.

Their basic products, i.e.,what you can find at ANY supermarket, are not higher than other markets in my area. Their specialty foods are very expensive, but you can’t find a lot of their product line anywhere else, it’s so special. I just love to wander around the aisles and admire all the things I can’t afford.

It depends on the Jewish population. I live near a Shop Rite that has a large Kosher section.

Good Morning,

Apparently you expect people to go back 5 hours on the thread.

I do know the meaning of quotations. Thank you for the refresher “lesson”.

I am sorry that the word “You” was used when I meant a broad “you all”! I did forget the ALL in the list on this post.

It was a general reply to anyone interested in Wegmans.

If you had read my comments about Wegmans you will know that I well understand their marketing and non-union policy. Did you know that they match students earnings during high school and summers, toward their fall tuition? I bet not.

“I will remember you are a negative, sarcastic person and avoid further contact.” Is that sarcasm? I put it in quotes! LOL

Might be so, I have never been to a Shop Rite.

Publix and Winn Dixie in my part of Florida just bring in foods for Jewish Holidays. They are all greatly reduced a week or so later.

Our area has a large Sephardic Jewish population so the Kosher goes on all year round. I love perusing the items.

You should see Fairway in Manhattan - unbelievable! I just swan around for an hour looking at all the international goodies. Of course, it’s expensive but once in a while...

yes, me too.

They have a macaroon cookie mix in a tub, like oatmeal, that is outstanding. South Florida must have more choices, but I seldom get there. Wegmans will work their way south, I bet. VA and MD now.
