Club for Growth backs Rep. Simpson’s primary opponent (ID)
The Washington Post ^ | July 10, 2013 | Aaron Blake

The Club for Growth’s political action committee announced Wednesday that it will support Rep. Mike Simpson’s (R-Idaho) 2014 primary opponent, attorney Bryan Smith.

The conservative PAC is openly soliciting suggestions for which GOP lawmakers it should target in primaries. Smith represents its first crowd-sourced endorsement.

Simpson has a lifetime 58 percent score on the Club for Growth’s scorecard — ranking among the most moderate Republicans in the House. But he comes from one of the most conservative districts in the country — one that went 64 percent for Mitt Romney last year.

This is a safely Republican district which is represented by a mediocre establishment hack. Idaho patriots can do better and I hope they rally around Bryan Smith’s campaign.

Stinky. His ACU ratings aren't so great either (but they seem to be going downhill, their 2012 ratings are presented sideways on a scribd page).

A lifestyle score of 58% from an Idaho Republican is really pathetic. It sounds like the kind of score a Connecticut Republican would have. I had no idea Mike Simpson was that bad.

we all remember old Alan Simpson, his dad. A notorious RINO establishment pro-abort. A mouthy pro-abort.

Alan Simpson is from Wyoming not Idaho. Mike Simpson’s father was a dentist. Possibly a RINO dentist.

God help us Colin Simpson might run for the Senate if Enzi retires, now there’s someone who could make me support Liz Cheney instead.

Thankfully I don't think he'd ever jump into the race (especially since Lummis has said she'll run if Enzi doesn't), but Colin Simpson vs. Liz Cheney (battle of the spoiled politicians kids!) would be an example where Cheney could legitimately run as the "more conservative" candidate. Unfortunately, it would be a "Rick Perry looks good next to Newt Gingrich" kind of "more conservative"
