Imagine the pleasant surprise I encountered after reading the headline “just in case George Zimmerman walks free…” adorning the top of a post composed by hip hop mogul and GlobalGrind.com founder Russell Simmons. It was my hope that Simmons, a respected voice in the black community, would spell out for an attentive audience why pundits preparing their audiences for riots in the wake of a possible acquittal were wrong. Instead, Simmons identified a variety of “victories” that resulted from the killing of Trayvon Martin. He cited setbacks for the National Rifle Association and state-level “Stand Your Ground” laws which he believes the activists who turned the trial into a political proxy war made possible. Simmons’ post is just one of many reckless provocations that have become a lamentably familiar aspect of the coverage of this trial and its “effect of inflaming passions without enlightening,” as National Journal’s Matthew Cooper put it.
But worse than the base impulse to score political points and threaten national comity by implying that one or another cultural worldview is threatened by a verdict in a far-flung murder trial are the pundits and officials readily preparing for – and, in some cases, stoking through innuendo – a violent reaction from African-Americans should the jury find Zimmerman not guilty. What is most striking is that few bristle with offense at the obscene implication that African-Americans will be unable to internalize such an outcome without lashing out in an uncivilized fashion.....

Who Is Racist?

I am so old that I can remember when most of the people promoting race hate were white.
Apparently other Americans also recognize that the sources of racism are different today from what they were in the past. According to a recent Rasmussen poll, 31 percent of blacks think that most blacks are racists, while 24 percent of blacks think that most whites are racist.
The difference between these percentages is not great, but it is remarkable nevertheless. After all, generations of blacks fought the white racism from which they suffered for so long. If many blacks themselves now think that most other blacks are racist, that is startling.
The moral claims advanced by generations of black leaders — claims that eventually touched the conscience of the nation and turned the tide toward civil rights for all — have now been cheapened by today’s generation of black “leaders,” who act as if it is all just a matter of whose ox is gored.
Even in legal cases involving terrible crimes — the O.J. Simpson murder trial or the charges of gang rape against Duke University students — many black “leaders” and their followers have not waited for facts about who was guilty and who was not, but have immediately taken sides, based on who was black and who was white.
Among whites, according to the same Rasmussen poll, 38 percent consider most blacks racist and 10 percent consider most whites racist.
Broken down by politics, the same poll showed that 49 percent of Republicans consider most blacks racist, as do 36 percent of independents and 29 percent of Democrats.
Perhaps most disturbing of all, just 29 percent of Americans as a whole think race relations are getting better, while 32 percent think race relations are getting worse. The difference is too close to call, but the fact that it is so close is itself painful — and perhaps a warning sign for where we are heading.

Well, as many have already pointed out, there are plenty of precedents for rioting if Zimmerman is acquitted.
But also, this is not an appalling lack of faith. The left ADMIRES this kind of behavior, and they can hardly wait for the rioting to start.
And of course Holder and Obama can’t wait, either. It’s what they’ve been hoping for. Great excuse for more government lawlessness.
They riot either way, win or lose they will burn something......like Detroit after an NBA Championship.

Martin wasn’t bashing Zimmerman’s head with a chunk of concrete. He was bashing the chunk of concrete with Zimmerman’s head.
There are many fine blacks in America and have been since the founding of this country.
But those who hate America and Whitey (like the President, for example) are looking for a reason to rumble. And may God bless them if they rumble.
Because they will scrape off the facade of civilization from ole Whitey...and at his core they will find someone who has been pushed way beyond his limit...they will find the natural human traits of an alpha society. Yes this society can and will revert to astounding cruelty toward those who threaten it and them.

I have no doubt at all that many will act just the way they always do:

Most black citizens of Los Angeles didn’t riot after the Rodney King verdict, either. In fact, a black family saved Reginald Denny’s life after he was beaten by some rioters. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t a bleepload of rioting and burning going on in the city. There’s good and bad in every group, and it’s silly not to at least consider the possibility that the lowlifes will react violently if Zimmerman is acquitted.
So they have basically burned down most of their communities and caused all the store to shut down so they have nothing to loot. But remember, they are peaceful people looking to to get their lives back on track.
Exactly. If GZ is convicted, celebratory looting, buring and shooting. If GZ is acquitted, angry looting, buring and shooting.
