Plastic burns much better than Aluminum or Titanium.

And a much tougher repair. Even before the repair, much more difficult to inspect internally.

In wartime a bad aluminum section like that on say a B-17 could have been patched overnight.

Ah, you are referring to the Press, not to the Boeing workers themselves—sorry, I misunderstood you before. I thought you were saying that the tail in question was built in SC, which it wasn’t, AFAIK.

The plane should not have caught on fire. That’s a scary defect and really bad news for Boeing, regardless of media bias.

I love my "plastic" (well, composite wood, metal, graphite, foam, air, cardboard (Hexel) etc.) skis.

On an airplane to travel to ski country? Not so much.

"much more difficult to inspect internally. "

Back in the day, we had an x-ray facility at McClellan AFB where we could x-ray an entire wing for defect detection.

Today the composite tails of older Airbuses could be problematic (American Airlines Flight 587).

My point is that I doubt that it is any kind of defect. At least not in the normal sense.

This is kind of like NBC's 'dangerous pickup gas tank' from decades ago.

These are purpose caused 'defects'.

The purpose is what I stated in my post #19.

PS, I’m not referring to any of the SC Boeing workers, or maybe not even their Seattle workers.

I’m referrring specifcally to acts done by the union, and/or their lackies.

Media are simply lap dogs.

I understand, but unless the union in question has members in Addis Ababa, it seems unlikely... :)

They have friends everywhere, all the way up to, and including, the WH.

A quick look down memory lane proves that beyond doubt. Look at all the grief, and the types of grief, Boeing got from WH henchmen after their announcement of a plant in SC.

These problems are union inspired, and will continue for years to come. The purpose is to destroy the plane, and then Boeing.

I’m not convinced they are able to do that, even in the Obama environment, but they sure will try, and damned the people hurt along the way. Eventually, they may even cause a crash of one.

It’s the historically proven union way.
