Ryan ran into his old friend, Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-Ill.), and urged him to restart his effort to get a comprehensive immigration package through Congress. Ryan’s arguments stemmed from a religious and economic foundation, not from the huge political liability the issue had become for the Republican Party during the 2012 presidential campaign.
“You’re a Catholic; I’m a Catholic; we cannot have a permanent underclass of Americans exploited in America,” Ryan told Gutierrez, according to the Democrat’s recollection of the November discussion.

Statements like this from politicians like Ryan just fry me. Luis Gutierrez has a 100% endorsement from Planned Parenthood, yet Ryan treats Luis like a guy fully committed to the catholic faith this is ridiculous and Ryan needs to be called out it. Below is a link to info on the praise Luis' gets from PP, and also a link to an article on Catholic Church teaching on immigration. The U.S. Bishops are embellishing the teaching from the Vatican to push for Schumer-Rubio legislation. As a practicing Catholic, I'm getting pretty dismayed by the actions of the Bishops.

Paul, my friend, one, they're not Americans. Two, there's no evidence they want to become Americans. Three, the purpose of immigration is to benefit Americans and the United States, you seems solely concerned about the illegal invaders. They're not immigrants. Four, what's to prevent the same people from importing a new group, a new underclass to be exploited, once the current underclass of illegal invaders is legalized?
Have you spent a second of really thinking this through, Paul? In you conversation with Mark Levin, you simply seemed not to understand the situation either due to inability or unwillingness.
Frankly, I think you've been bought off, convinced by the Big Business types to support illegal invasion. No bill has been submitted that will stop the importation of new underclass. And you talk with Gutierrez to "fix" the problem. Is that stupidity or insanity?
