The pervasive violence in Chicago should cause every reasonable and prudent person to give pause in whether they would continue living there. Certainly for those of us who might consider a trip to Chicago on vacation with our families, the prudent thing would be to travel to a safer city.

It won’t be long before these feral humans will be extending their sphere of influence 30 miles and beyond. Even these suburbs won’t be a safe bet unless you are trained, prepared, and equipped to deal with these ferals.

You are right in starting with the "politically correct" comment. Because any approach to this problem has to be politically correct. That's just the way things are in the USA. And it's been that way for some time. Ain't gonna change.
IMHO, there is only one solution to the problem that's both workable and politically correct.
It's said that idle hands are the Devil's workshop. So bring back industry to the cities. Give urban folks access to good, high-paying jobs.

We moved from the WDC area last year. While we lived in a “nice” suburb, there were no walls keeping out the ferals (esp at night). And to top it off, the LIBs extended various mass transit option into the suburbs to help the ferals get to you. Enough...move your self out. There is a real life and reasonable people outside these LIB hellholes.

BTW: I commute to that hell-hole every Monday - Friday to go to work. Been conceal-carrying for over a decade now without an incident. But it's getting bad.

Gang-banging thugs on Chicago's "magnificent mile" shopping strip on North Michigan Avenue robbing old ladies, shoppers and out of towner's.
The South Loop (financial district) littered with homeless and some left over "occupy wall street" morons who haven't figured out their cause is dead.
In my 5 block walk to the train station to commute home, I encounter no fewer than NINE homeless people, several aggressively panhandling.
I can only imagine what's going to happen in Chitcago should George Zimmerman RIGHTLY be found INNOCENT.

My grandmother lives in Galesburg, IL. I go through Chi-Congo every time I go for a visit. Yes, I do know Chi-Congo very well.
You drive from O’Hare to Galesburg, and you know Chicago well? LOL—then, like I stated . . . care to place a wager?
No you moron. If I go AMTRAK I go through Chi-Congo. There’s a two or three hour wait for the train to G’burg. If I fly, I go into ORD and take the shuttle to MLI (that’s Moline to you) My g’mother picks me up there and we drive to G’burg.
