Becerra is a Dem, and maybe Dems have their own immigration bills. If the article is accurate, One would think that his bill would never be brought to the floor (Hastert Rule).

Not so fsst! Becerra's "Gang of 7" includes 3 GOP House members: John Carter (TX), Mario Diaz-Balart (FL), and Sam Johnson (TX). Now let's give those three the benefit of the doubt for a moment, and say they Becerra's statement was based on a misunderstanding, and they are not going to vote for such a thing. In that case, they should not want to be in a group which includea an irresponsible Becerra shooting off his mouth.

“Are they going to advocate for what’s best for the country or what’s best for their party?” he asked. “If [so], we’ll have immigration reform. If they decide to do what some anti-immigrant Republicans are asking, then we’ll have to restart the tussle.”

Thi9s is rich! When was the last time the democrats advocated for what was best for America? Why don’t the dems give these people a path to citizenship to the only countries they hold allegiance to, Mexico, Guatemala, San Salvador,Honduras...

As long as the path for illegals includes a jump over a high barbed wire fence and a walk through a minefield, I’m all for that path. The new hires for our border patrol should have had some East German border guard background or at least be trained in the same methods.

The feral government is already not enforcing current immigration law.

Why do we need to give them another law to cherry-pick and selectively enforce?

Of the people who reside here illegally, it is being generous to allow them to stay and to enjoy the benefits we allow them to have. But we DO NOT OWE THEM CITIZENSHIP. Indeed it is a GRAVE MISTAKE to give it out so cheaply.

If 11 million ( or 20, or 30 million) of these illegals will improve the economy so much, let’s send them back so they can improve the economy in central and south America!!!!

Oh look! More Lesser evil!

Well that’s ok. Half of ‘conservatives will immediately demand we support this since they so love lesser evil. And will call us traitorous drunks and other wonderful things if we dare complain.

Because they want it. They must since every time someone mentions not supporting the GOP and ensuring more of it, they fly out of the woodwork screaming. See many FR threads for proof.

Remember the citizenship discussion is a side show, a distraction. Amnesty is the right to remain, it has nothing to do with citizenship. The problems with all proposed reforms is not just the amnesty, but massive increase in legal immigration.

The size and scope of legal immigration is just as big a problem as the size and scope of illegal immigration.

Along with building a proper fence (like Israel did) real reform starts with a return to pre-1965 immigration.

All they want is the ability to tax the illegals. They really could care less about them.

*shakes head* No pathway without enforcement, fence, and money allocated up front. These things need to be in play for five years before I would start anything else..

Democrats are willing to accept tougher border security measures than exist under current law...

...because, one suspects, that they know that they will never, ever (EVER) be enforced; and additionally that the illegal aliens-turned-residents will be voting by 2014, and...

... one also suspects, so will all their friends and relatives abroad, and who might just be currently packing.

There should be a pathway to citizenship for all illegals we find within our borders. I suggest they become citizens of Zimbabwe...

Becerra's "Gang of 7" includes 3 GOP House members: John Carter (TX), Mario Diaz-Balart (FL), and Sam Johnson (TX).

Since when have these "Gang" sub-Committees in both the Senate and House become new official Congressional authories? Who sanctioned them? Or the authority of "Czars" for that matter?

This is just more superseding the Constitutional representative authority of the American people.
