Is there recourse for the jurors to petition the court to withhold their names/addresses for as long as possible? They need enough time to make plans to temporarily relocate should things get ugly.

Yes, there is. But the press is pushing from the other direction, and the precents only reach out as far as six months.

Duh!

GZ, as far as I know, never charged SYG, but self defense. It was Martin that was saying he could Stand HIS ground. The Martin story was this "Cracker" was following him so he had the right to attack GZ to stand his ground. The problem was he had 4 minutes to run home and he chose not to. Also, it was more believable that Martin sucker punched GZ to start the fight. I don't think GZ ever hit Martin at all. Besides the bullet hole, the only injuries he had were skinned knuckles.

The Dems are the ones focused on SYG because they want it repealed. In the past, you had to run if you were able. Now, if you are attacked, you have the right to fight back, even to the death. You no longer have the impressibility to flee if you can. GZ NEVER did ANYTHING to Martin to make Martin think he should be afraid. OTOH, GZ didn't know Martin was 17 nor did he know he was unarmed.

My original post was on the sarcastic side, but really, if the whole world is going to get it's panties in a knot over Trayvon, how long are we supposed to get beat up before we can act on our own behalf? If this thing doesn't go away, that is a question that the Justice dept needs to answer. Just a a hypothetical, if I call someone a prick and make a pass at their wife, am I supposed to allow them to kill me before taking decisive action? I don't think anyone is supposed to lay down and die just because. I was taught to avoid trouble as much as possible, but if trouble finds me to be the one to end it. I don't have the responsibility to get brain damage just to try and keep the peace. Bullies never allow keeping the peace anyway. That is the liberal fallacy right now on the terrorists. If we just don't provoke them with Guantanamo, or putting lard in our food, they will learn to love us. We haven't learned that they have the "great commission" of murdering us and the Jews no matter what. If you give the school bully your lunch money, you can bet he will be back for more. Until some of these jerks that pull people from cars and beat them in the street figure out the guy in the car may have a gun and shoot them, this will not end. Trayvon miscalculated that the Pillsbury Dough Boy might be able to defend himself from a "Fight Club" wannabe. I kept hearing about a cop wannabe, but to say anything about Trayvon was putting him on trial and might soil his memory. Well the guy was a punk and if not now, would have ended up dead or in jail soon anyway. Darwin took care of the situation with GZ, but it would have ended up with an armed homeowner or a cop sooner or later.

It's a shame a 17 year old died. Many of us did stupid things when we were young and grew out of it. But GZ didn't have the obligation to die just to allow Trayvon to learn some life lessons.

Hit Zimmerman and punched him and tossed around the grounds. Zimmerman fighting for his life fled. The Felon chested him to the ground and continued MMA stile when he was seen by the only eye witness etc.

Their culture is one of willful destruction. If you play it out to some logical conclusion, the end of it all isn't positive no matter how you factor it.... at least not if you leave them on their current trajectory and don't factor in any positive external influences. For the record, they WILLFULLY REJECT most attempts at positive influences...with prejudice! But they don't see it this way. They're offended that they aren't given what they demand, and they really do believe that they are owed something. But they've been lied to and they've taken the bait... hook, line, and sinker.

But back to trajectory and some logical conclusion. What do most people suppose society would look like should a bunch of gang-bangers ascend to power? Well... for starters, I think we get a pretty good look at this through our current national leadership. The Marxists and socialists of 20 years ago have cleaned up a little and put on suits... learned to hone their message just a bit so it didn't sound so obviously destructive, and then fooled enough people to vote for them. The result is what we're witnessing in America now....a willful and self destructive leadership.

Should the culture we're discussing now come to power and have their day, it would only be a version of what we're all seeing now with our current leadership, except to a greater magnitude. ...Corruption, gun running, denial of rights, large-scale espionage on the citizenry, the attempted disarming of a public which might resist, sympathy with those nations which hate us, antisemitism, the planned and systematic destruction of something which is undeniably "good" which could have only come from a God who has mercy and wants good things for those who pursue Him.

The logical conclusion isn't good... no matter how you slice it. It's not good with our current power brokers... it's not good if these miscreants we're discussing now were to ever get into power. Then again, it's not supposed to be. :-)
