Dershowitz: Zimmerman Special Prosecutor Angela Corey Should Be Disbarred
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 14, 2013

MIKE HUCKABEE: You have said that you thought the prosecutor ought to be disbarred, that's a pretty serious type of violation to get a person disbarred. It is that serious to you?

ALAN DERSHOWITZ: Right, it is. She submitted an affidavit that was, if not perjurious, completely misleading. She violated all kinds of rules of the profession, and her conduct bordered on criminal conduct. She, by the way, has a horrible reputation in Florida. She's known for overcharging, she's known for being highly political. And in this case, of course she overcharged. Halfway through the trial she realized she wasn't going to get a second degree murder verdict, so she asked for a compromised verdict, for manslaughter. And then, she went even further and said that she was going to charge him with child abuse and felony murder. That was such a stretch that it goes beyond anything professionally responsible. She was among the most irresponsible prosecutors I've seen in 50 years of litigating cases, and believe me, I've seen good prosecutors, bad prosecutors, but rarely have I seen one as bad as this prosecutor, [Angela] Cory.

Well, I could hope this evil liberal cabal blows itself apart from its own fierce grip on lies.

DERSHOWITZ: As far as prosecutor Cory is concerned, I would invite her to my class, let her justify her conduct in front of my students.

Heck with his class. She was having a hard time explaining herself before even the reporters last night.

Maybe the Race-baiters finally ‘Jumped-the-Shark’ with this case? In my opinion, it’s tme for the black community to kick Al Sharpton and Jessee Jackson to the road and get some real leadership....a group of men and women actually interested in the black community...not in race-baiting politics. Bill Cosby tried...and he got shunned. Others have tried as well. Let’s hope someone out there is not clinging to ‘Mississppi Burning’ as there vision of America.

Angel Corey was appointed Special Prosecutor for the Zimmerman case by Republican Governor Rick Scott. Nothing bad is going to happen to her except some political reward from Scott.

Let’s not forget the role of Gov Rick Scott who appointed Corey as the special prosecutor on this case. She was just doing his bidding on this. Yes, she should be disbarred but he should be voted out.

I am damn glad to see AD and MOM take the gloves off against these dishonest, racist, incompetent, cowards. No more of this nicey-nicey crap. Start telling it like it is, no more BS, no more “reaching across the aisle” no more “Can’t . . can’t . . . can’t we all just get along” They’ve chosen Sharpton, Jackson, Holder, King Rodney, the Duke lacrosse whore, NBPP, and now Thugvon as their heroes. Bankrupt indeed.

I wouldn’t bank on that. My hunch is she’s next under the bus.

Alan Dershowitz vs. Angela Corey over misleading Affidavit of Probable Cause

Posted by William A. Jacobson Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 5:55pm

There should be a special prosecutor appointed to investigate this special prosecution.

In early April 2012, Special Prosecutor Angela Corey decided not to take the George Zimmerman case to a Grand Jury, opting for the filing of a Criminal Information which then was presented along with an Affidavit of Probable Cause. The Court found probable cause for the charges.

It turned out, once pre-trial discovery was exchanged, that the affidavit upon which probable cause was found had not disclosed a lot of significant exculpatory details. There was no mention of the significant injuries to Zimmerman, or of John Good’s eyewitness account that Martin was on top of Zimmerman hitting him Mixed Martial Arts style. All the Affidavit said on the subject of the physical confrontation was that there was “a struggle.”

The Affidavit identified the voice screaming for help as that of Martin based on an interview with his mother, but did not reveal what we now know, that Martin’s father initially denied it was his son.

The Affidavit also was inaccurate, such as alleging that the 911 operator “instructed Zimmerman not” to follow Martin — a false fact which lives on in the media mythology of the case.

Alan Dershowitz was livid.

Then there is Bondi...

“I have been asked to be on Gov Romney’s task force, I am going to be part of his health care policy team when he is President.”

March 27, 2012

PAM BONDI, FLORIDA ATTORNEY GENERAL: Well, Piers, first let me tell you. I’ve spoken to Trayvon’s parents. They are amazing, sweet, kind people. My heart goes out to them. I’m actually friends with their attorneys Ben Crump and Daryl Parks. They’re wonderful lawyers who are representing them.

What my — I have no legal role as attorney general in the state of Florida. That authority is left to the state attorneys. But what I did do was I discussed with the governor the appointment of Angela Corey, a special prosecutor in Jacksonville who’s well removed from the case. She’s absolutely excellent. And the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are now involved in the case.

The reason, Piers, I can’t comment on “Stand Your Ground”, whether that applies here because there are too many unanswered questions. And, you know, that’s why the family is rightfully upset. When you have an innocent 17-year-old boy walking home with Skittles and an iced tea and he’s killed, you have to have answers, not questions. And that’s what we need in our state.

MORGAN: Yes, I mean, look, I am encouraged by what you’re saying. It’s good that a senior lawmaker in Florida is saying all this, but in the end, you know, I remain like many people absolutely bemused that somebody can shoot somebody in cold blood, an unarmed young teenager.

And so, I mean, I just think with your legal training and your legal background on what appears to be a very empathetic attitude towards this case, it might be quite powerful for the attorney general of Florida to say publicly, you know what? This guy should be arrested. He should be interviewed under caution and he should, if necessary, face charges. But he should be at stage one of the legal process of being under arrest.

BONDI: Well, what we’ve done is appoint a special prosecutor. And that’s what she’s doing. Conducting a thorough investigation because we need to get Trayvon’s girlfriend to cooperate which I don’t know if was happening previously. And they may have had good reason for that. But she’s cooperating now. And again, a thorough investigation is being done to ensure that justice is sought for that family.

But you can’t make an arrest until you interview all the witnesses, Piers. Nor do you want that to happen because a speedy trial could run. And — then that’s — we don’t want that to happen. And all I can tell you is we have a great prosecutor on the case. We have great law enforcement agencies. The Department of Justice is looking at this. And I firmly believe as you do that we need to have justice for the death of this innocent young man who was walking home to watch a basketball game with Skittles and an iced tea.

We don’t get why the prosecutor is so happy after Zimmerman verdict

It's an interesting question. I suspect that she didn't much care about the disposition of the case at all - she wanted the publicity.

Now, even though she lost the trial, she'll be seen as having "fought the good fight" by the media, and may get a lucrative book deal out of the whole mess.

Let's not forget that she is an elected REPUBLICAN, though - should she run again with an "R" by her name, I sure hope local Freepers and others down around Orlando work against her re-re-re-election.
