Why Conservative Americans Admire Putin

After the Great Patriotic War, Americans looked at Russians as atheists and communists. Russians were viewed as intelligent but liars and devils not to be trusted. When Solzhenitsyn came to America he was looked upon as a hero from the Soviet Union by the American press. The US media later portrayed him in a negative way calling him naïve and ignorant of American society even though Solzhenitsyn was only pointing out the truth known by many conservative Americans. His 1978 speech in this video in America at the Harvard University is not only true about America but prophetic as well. Solzhenitsyn knew communism was infecting society and saw its effect. He also saw "Destructive and irresponsible freedom" in America. Solzhenitsyn says in the USA, "Society appears to have little defense against the abyss of human decadence, such as, for example, misuse of liberty for moral violence against young people, motion pictures full of pornography, crime and horror. It is considered to be part of freedom and theoretically counter-balanced by the young people's right not to look or not to accept. Life organized legalistically has thus shown its inability to defend itself against the corrosion of evil." The US media made sure his words were ignored by many and society has become much worse in the last twenty years in America.

At another time he warns not only Americans but Russians as well, "We should teach future generations so they can avoid the mistakes of those who turn away from God. Otherwise, they will suffer the same fate as those who were murdered." Many conservative Americans understood Solzhenitsyn as they knew America was changing for the worse at that time.

Putin respects, appreciates and honors Russian military personnel and Veterans, which is why I and countless others respect him as a leader. 0bama despises our modern military, and he hates our Veterans too.

Putin is a man's man and a patriot, whereas 0bama is a closet homosexual from a foreign country.

These reasons are among many why I respect Putin more.

Have you ever been to Russia or anywhere outside of the country?

It might shock you to learn that not everything works the same way in your little world you see on CNN.

Putin is about the same as a Mafia thug. He will do whatever it takes to get what he wants — lie, steal, kill, torture, subvert democracy. You may need to be a “tough guy” or a “man’s man” to do those things, but that certainly doesn’t make him admirable. And sure, he may be religious and people may find his defense of religion admirable, but a lot of Mafiosos went to church on a regular basis too.

Well put.

I'm not sure Putin really is authentically religious, but who can say?

Rather than a real man we should say a real leader.
Margaret was the equal of any of them.

Right or wrong, there's the perception that Putin, however corrupt and unscrupulous he may be, represents his nation's interests at home and abroad.

The same cannot be said about Obama, nor for hundreds of other politicians who are selling out America's interests, and instead represent the interests of alien peoples, ideologies, and religions.

Putin is no friend to the US, he is a geopolitical adversary (not an enemy like the Soviets were, but an adversary). He's only good for America as an example of somebody who at least cultivates the image of representing his nation and his people's interests. Hence the admiration, or at least respect, from some circles.

It takes a thug to keep order in places like Russia. Yeltsin allowed a lot more personal and political liberty under his watch, and the country descended into chaos. Military dictatorships and thuggish autocrats were the only ways to keep or restore order in places like Chile (Pinochet), Iran (the Shah), Egypt (Mubarak), etc. If having corrupt and thuggish strongmen is the alternative to chaos, civil war, or mob rule in those places, so be it. That doesn't mean it would work or be desirable in the western world.

Russia’s economy is in the crapper, so to keep the people distracted, he started all of this anti-homo stuff.

He isn’t doing it out of some deep spiritual belief, he’s doing it to keep the populous concentrated on the jangle of shiny gay keys, so they won’t try that democracy jazz he hates so much and try to get him out of office again.

How very condescending of you. I have lived and traveled extensively in Europe for almost 4 years and am a history and political buff.

Our media mirror the old govt. USSR media, Pravda. While it is true that Russia has reopened its churches and lightened up a bit, the truth is Putin IS ex KGB and has destroyed every challenge to his power.

I have always wanted to see Russia, but have not been there.

Again, what did you mean by your snide post? By the way, I do not now, nor have I ever watched CNN or the alphabet stations. I do not agree with their take on anything. I read most of my news on the internet and watch a little Fox, even tho the supposed "conservative commentators" let the libs talk all over them and O'R has to be the biggest bloviator on the planet.

G-d help me, but Pravda makes more sense to me than most stuff from the American MSM these daze.

I have thought exactly the same thing for at least a few years now. It's ironic that the only place Americans can get genuine, trustworthy news is from the foreign press, especially the UK. I take anything I hear from America's Democrat "mainstream" newsrooms with a big grain of salt.

>>>Russia’s economy is in the crapper, so to keep the people distracted, he started all of this anti-homo stuff.<<<

Well, they have issues and challenges but the reality is Russian economy was never in such a good shape for a thousand year as it is now.

Just 20 years ago they had an economic power of Zimbabwe, but this month World Bank has moved Russia ahead of Germany as a #5 global economy.

Average Russian household is on par with of Mississipi’s or Idaho’s now and it is a huge improvement to pre-Putin era.

Like I said...

Our own communist infiltrated State Dept. tried to hijack the Russian elections for their comrades in the Communist Party with non-profit NGOs just like they do here in the USA.

Just because you hate Putin is no excuse to suck up to the communists running our government.

Margaret trumps Putin, Zer0, Bush 2, Clinton, Bush 1. Margaret equal to Reagan.

As Churchill trumped FDR and Truman.
