The George Zimmerman case was a wretched spectacle from the beginning, but for this we are glad: People in America are still tried in the courts rather than by left-wing protesters or by the media. To their credit, the jurors appear to have decided the case strictly on the facts, which gave them no choice other than to acquit Zimmerman, despite the long campaign of defamation against him outside the courtroom.

72 blacks were shot in Chicago over the July 4th weekend and 12 of them died, yet the media doesn’t care because the shooters were black.
That couldn't be more wrong, and it the talking point used to establish negligence/recklessness that will be the basis of a civil rights charge if one comes.
1. It is Wrong because Zimmerman was not stalking Martin over some period of time. He was using a matter of minutes to locate Martin after he ran. Stalking is illegal following, and checking someone's location doesn't even begin to rise to that level.
2. It is wrong because Martin RAN. His location at the time placed him 70 yards from the house where he was staying. Martin could have been inside that house in one half minute once he ran. In short, Martin RETURNED to Zimmerman. That is why he could jump him, and as O'Mara suggested, a possible source of the "left to right" motion attested to by one witness. Martin ran to within yards of his house and then returned. Who was stalking and who was checking location?
3. It is wrong because all the evidence kept out of the trial says that Martin did have a connection to fighting, to burglaring, and to drugging.
4. It is wrong because Zimmerman was in connection with the authorities, and he had the police on the way. His actions are hardly those of a man intent on committing a murder.
Sorry, National Review. But, you have totally missed the dynamics of this case. As O'Mara said, the media has some agenda they are driving, and they are still doing so.

There is another lesson. This author accuses Zimmerman of several "mistakes." However, if Zimmerman made any mistakes, his big one was his failure to recognize that he lacked the capacity to safely follow dangerous suspects into dark areas with a gun. According to his witness, he was a 1 (scale of ten) physically and athletically. Within minutes, the kid was beating Zimmerman half to death. Then, according to Zimmerman, he almost got killed with own gun.
Without training or the ability to handle physical confrontations, it is very risky to follow strange people into dark, isolated places. That's a fact, Mac.
unfortunately, the courts wouldn’t have rendered a verdict if the initial investigation by barney fife and the Sanford PD went unchallenged, no?

re #3 how is it relevant to GZ’s state of mind that TM had used marijuana previously (even if true) when GZ had no knowledgde that that was the case?

This whole episode was nothing more than an Obama administration-whipped media frenzy designed to distract folks from its own rampant corruption- Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS attacking conservatives, DOJ spying on journalists, NSA spying on all citizens, and on and on.
As an educational exercise for you, why don't you provide a reference for this claim.
Go ahead...try to find a reference that describes someone with any level of authority telling Zimmerman to "remain in his vehicle and not pursue".

He wasn’t told to stay in his vehicle and wait. In fact, the dispatcher asked him the location of Martin, so he checked.
The marijuana use is relevant because studies show it pushes the marginal to mental and the mental to disturbed. Additionally, it distorts rational thinking. So, it provides partial rationale for Martin actually attacking Zimmerman.
Martin was affected by a mind altering substance that he used to the extent it kept residue in his system. Also, it was the basis of his suspension from school.
I don’t know how you missed the point, because it was clearly spelled out in my original post.
Martin ran, had plenty of time to return home, and given the running, he was within just yards of the house in which he was staying.
Martin is the one who returned. Instead of entering his house in a matter of a half minute, he instead used those remaining 3.5 minutes to return to Zimmerman’s location and accost him.
Read the word: RETURN. Notice this word: RETURN. Don’t miss it this time: RETURN
MARTIN is the one who RETURNED.
No one said he couldn’t run away.
Martin's running was perfectly legal, and nobody's claiming it wasn't. What is claimed is that Martin's running took him far enough away from Zimmerman that there would have been no physical contact between the two if Martin hadn't wanted it. If Martin had simply kept his distance after he had retreated, the physical altercation had been avoided.
Note that the Stand Your Ground principle would mean Martin didn't necessarily have any legal obligation to retreat in order to avoid a physical confrontation (in some measure because there's no guarantee retreat will be successful), but once he had successfully retreated, he had an obligation to stay away from George if he thought him dangerous [failure to stay away from George is prima facie evidence that he didn't think George was dangerous].
