Reid gives GOP ultimatum: Relent on nominees or I will go 'nuclear'
The Hill ^ | July 15, 2013

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday said unless Republicans allow votes on seven of President Obama's pending nominees, he will trigger the "nuclear option" this week.

The Senate is scheduled to begin voting Tuesday on the nominees. The first up for consideration will be Richard Cordray, Obama's pick to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. After that, Democrats will proceed to three nominees to the National Labor Relations Board.

"Why don’t we hear McCain complaining about this. He did when Republicans brought it up. Have I missed something?"

He's busy bending over across the aisle.

Harry has that thug mentality down pat.

“Gibbs me what I want or I’ll take what I want
and I’ll burn your house down.”

Hey Harry/Barry, we through playin that sh*t.
If you think you got the stuff, bring it.
We’ll see whose house burns.

Harry is doing this because he doesn’t think we’ll
take the Senate. It’s up to us to prove him wrong
and then use what HE has put in place against him.

Revenge is delicious, cold.

Hairy will find out that the downside vastly outweighs the short term upside.

Democrats won’t always be in the majority.

The Republicans have a counter-strike option available to them: if this happens they’ll shut down the Senate until it’s rescinded. The Dems will then have to decide on whether to rescind the rest of the filibuster (on legislation). And they’ll also be faced with being tied into procedural knots if they do.

AND if a single nominee makes it through the confirmation vote under the revised rules they’ll, as a caucus, vote “NO” on all of Obama’s future nominations. Every single one. Actually, they’ll vote “NO” on every single Dem nominee until the Senate Dem leadership (Reid, Durban, Schumer) retires/resigns/declines to run for reelection.

But that sort of thing would require a ... backbone. Right?

well, theoretically this can happen, as the Democrats have a 54-46 majority.

But I heard that some Democrats such as Carl Levin and Diane Feinstein, are not on board with voting to change the rules.

Harry Reid could lose up to four Democrats on the rules change, because that would result in a 50-50 roll call vote, and then Joe Biden would cast the tie breaking vote in favor.

we’ll see. Let the clerk call the roll, and we’ll see if the nuclear winter startsin the Senate................

LOL

When the supposed "Republicans" had control, they didn't do squat to overcome the stonewalling by Dem's, lock-step.

Now, Reid is panicking that the Illegals won't get Amnesty in time for the 2014 Elections, assuring Democarts control for the next 4 or 5 Decades.

Make him go Nuclear, then just vote on the Party Line (impossible with all the RINO's in the Senate), and let it be their burden going forward.

When Civil War breaks out as they run out of money, then we can thin the herd.......

Either way the nominees get passed. Better that the Republicans refuse to be parties to it.

It would be interesting if the filibuster is eliminated and the Republicans come back with 51 seats next year.
