Chris Sevier, a 36-year-old man from Tennessee, got so addicted to porn videos that his wife took his children and left him. Now he has sued Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), saying the Cupertino, Calif.-based company failed to install any filter in its devices to prevent his affliction.
In a 50-page complaint, Sevier calls Apple a “silent poisoner” responsible for the proliferation of “arousal addiction, sex trafficking, prostitution, and countless numbers of destroyed lives.” Sevier is seeking damages from Apple, but said he will drop the lawsuit if Apple agrees to sell devices with a “safe mode.”
Sevier claims that his addiction started when he “accidentally” replaced the “a-c-e” in Facebook with a “--k.” Sevier said this F***book site “appealed to his biological sensibilities as a male,” and he started to prefer the images on the screen to his own wife.

There is a link at the article to the complaint. It is poorly written and perhaps the biggest whine-fest I’ve ever seen outside of a DNC convention. It basically says that men are helpless fools, compares porn to guns and cigarettes and yes, works in the deaths of 3,000 Americans on September 11th.
“The plaintiff began to prefer the cyber beauties over his wife, which caused his marriage to fail. His wife abducted his son and disappeared, which was a consequence of Apple’s decision to sell its computers not on “safe mode”.

I’m surprised spitzer didn’t think to make a buck off his addiction by suing the phone company for not having a hooker filter.
And even if they did someone would have to have administrator privileges that was able to bypass the surf blocker and that would probably be YOU.
So what possible good would it do you to have this software preloaded on your computer?

This guy is correct on one point: Many men are helpless fools about this stuff. And many wives are sick of it. (I’m in the middle of a divorce from one such guy now.) Men pass it around by cellphone and e-mail, and the stuff some of these men look at can be really weird.
Egads! Better shut this down in a hurry— first they came for the porn, next it will be online fantasy role playing games!
This is so lame. I guess Apple is to blame for shopaholics, rapists, and murderers, too. Everyone has to carry his own water.
