Guns don’t belong in places of worship (Illiinois barf alert)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | 17 july 2013

Houses of worship don’t just accommodate religious gatherings. They also are places where deeply troubled people come to get help. If for no other reason than that, they should be off limits to guns.

Unfortunately, a state law rushed through in the closing days of the spring legislative session that allows the concealed carrying of guns also makes it legal to bring those firearms into places of worship. That’s an alarming prospect that needs to be rectified as quickly as possible.

There is nothing more tempting to a wolf than a helpless flock of sheep...

Tell it to the Coptic Christians as they get dragged out and killed.

This is a blatant violation of the First Amendment. The government cannot deny the right to self protection at religious gatherings that is allowed at nonreligious ones. It is up to the Congregation of each house of worship to decide if they will allow firearms in the building.

If you attend a Christian church, it’s a target. The bigger the church, the bigger the target. Christian pastors have been under increasing and credible threats from the Left wing radicals, abortionists, militant Lesbian/Gay advocacy groups, and most recently, Mohammedan jihadist here in the U.S. And, no, the “Dodge City” or “Wild West” scenario with an exchange of indiscriminate gunfire by “amateurs” has never happened. Amateurs have successfully defended themselves for quite some time in this country. If you knew what to look for, you’d be surprised by just how many carry concealed these days. Everywhere.

Not all churches are created equal. Some are the church of race baiting. Don’t be fooled. Even some suburban churches, loaded up for social justice are baiting people. Look for the Rick Warren, emergent churches- as well as the ghetto churches.

Wrong question

The right question is When does the state require individuals to give up their right to self defense?

They are pin heads who think the Constitution is a living changeable document. They do NOT understand the words. SHALL NOT INFRINGE. ALL gun laws are unconstitutional by that simple reasoning. Do I want a murderer to be able to own a gun. NO.

NO criminal should be able to possess a gun, they cannot be trusted with them. That said, why they pick on guns is beyond me. My 16 year old mentally delayed (4 years behind his peers) grew up in a small town where the worst crime was a DUI. And was protected by a very strong willed mama bear...me.

But you can’t control situations like coming home from school when you do not have a car, and have a 1st grader to walk to pick up. Jeremy was ambushed, and beaten to death with a 2 ft 4 x 4 fence post so a sociopath could get his jollies to see what it was like to kill and picked Jeremy as his target. Went and bragged about it and brought others to the scene, then ran as the sirens started, they found him standing on the side lines watching the investigation. Bad plea deal, 1st down to 2nd, 20 years, took 2 years to get to that. And that time which he spent in jail counted on the 20 years. 10 months after the sentencing I was fighting the first of 6 parole hearings.

I fight dirty, I learned the system and the stats and used every means necessary to make sure he stayed in prison until he maxed out his ‘good behavior’ time. A total of 14.5 years, then he walked a free man. He made threats in jail to kill any one who testified against him. My husband made me get my CCW permit and taught me to shoot.

Now for some stats, I can’t give you a link, but it should not be hard to verify.

murders 2011
323 by assault weapons,
496 hammers, 650 knives, 12,000 drunks,
195,000 medical malpractice.

Gee, sometimes you have to just wonder at the democrats agenda. Oh, wait not much thinking needed there it would just get rid of the people that do not vote for them anyway.

So churches are now places for the criminally insane.

It is breathtaking to see the speed at which we become the Soviet Union. Soon, expressing a religious thought will get you committed.

But you don’t NEED to defend yourself! All you have to do is call the local government law enforcement agency that they will come running to protect you!

I’ve heard that argument before to which I responded which trumps the other? Do needs trump rights or do rights trump needs. I say that my right to defend myself is a fundamental right and trumps any other needs.
