The IRS scandal is unraveling
American Thinker ^ | 07/19/2013 | Thomas Lifson

We can now officially say that the IRS harassment of conservative groups is a political scandal connected to the Obama political machine. Despite the best obfuscatory efforts of Obama henchmen like Rep. Elijah Cummings, yesterday the IRS scandal was tied to a political appointee of President Obama. Step-by-step the chain is being followed upward by the House Oversight Committee chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa.

Jay Carney's assurances that two rogue agents in a back office in the 27th most populous metropolis of America were the problem has been exposed as a blatant, outrageous lie. Now we know that Obama's hand-picked agent was leading the initiative, as far as the people below him in the federal apparatus knew.

Now we begin to prepare the vice to squeeze the Obama political appointee, perhaps making an immunity grant to Lois Lerner a possibility. Keep in mind, it is not an offer, it is an involuntary grant she cannot refuse.

The Obama Media won’t let this affect Obama in the slightest.

We all knew where it was coming from. The Democrats run everything./ Of course the White House knew.

The big question is what will be done about it?

I say NOTHING.

It’s a damned shame, but we watched Fast & Furious amount o nothing. We watched Benghazi amount to nothing. We will watch this amount to nothing, and only we few here in Free Republic even know Issa is investigating.

The Media is quiet as a mouse about his while they still try to hang Zimmerman.

agreed... this is completely out of the news cycle and off the radar...

one can only hope that Issa’s commitee keeps up the pursuit, but I won’t hold my breath.

An opportunity she would likely have used but for
her untimely death while making toast in
her bath tub.

The Zimmerman debacle may have them spooked. They threw everything they had behind the narrative, and it blew up in their face.

The IRS scandal is unraveling?

The article makes it sound like just the opposite: Sounds like the IRS scandal is coming together to show who was involved.

“The Obama Media won’t let this affect Obama in the slightest.”

Exactly. Heck, Noonan had an article where she described the committee as unfocused and barely awake. The media won’t have to work too hard, because Republicans are stupid, and complicit.

Duh.

I guess we have to go through the motions to make the case. This comes from Obama. I guess I am just glad they are still pursuing it.

I guess the Bengazi scandal is all wrapped up. I did hear something on Fox in the past couple of days about it though. Will details of Fast and Scandalous ever come out?

I think the President has acted stupidly. If I had a stupid son that became president, he would act just like Obama. We need government to take a bigger role in controlling the size of government. In this effort, government should lead from behind.

Yes, thanks to his media/propaganda machine, I can count the number of people who care about this on one hand.

Issa stated they were "tirelessly" working to get to the bottom of this. Later in the day, he states, "they'll be off for the ENTIRE month of August!"

If the weak, Crybaby of a House Leader, Bonehead, was really interested in preserving our country, he would hold the entire Congress over, and dedicate the ENTIRE month of August to the Crimes committed this Administration!

One thing you can say true about the Democrat leaders, at least they indeed are working "tirelessly" to Destroy the nation. Too bad our main Republican leaders aren't as dedicated to preserving it.

The Left has spent four decades analyzing Watergate so as to figure out how to more perfectly execute a cover-up.

Obama will say he did it to save the country ,the country can’t wait.

And predictably, the MSM will nod with eyebrows raised saying, "He's right. Wow. What a genius. What a leader. He saved the country from the GOP."

Issa has been great, and don’t get me wrong, this IS a great development.

But the long-term lesson for me has been is that we will never really get any government honesty before we get an honest media.

And that requires the death of the current media —a process that will require some more years, maybe 5 years or more. The little acorns have still to grow into mighty oaks.

In short, the system will be reported on when the organs of reportage are no longer a de-facto extension of The System.
