“He doesn’t have to be convicted, he doesn’t have to be indicted, there doesn’t have to be witnesses coming forward. It’s the standard defined by the public. The public says either we like him or we don’t – its that simple.”

San Diego Democratic Party released a statement saying they were unable to reach a consensus and will not ask for the mayor’s resignation. Democratic Chairman Francine Busby strongly condemns sexual harassment, of which the mayor is accused, saying “we abhor the actions he is alleged to have taken
against women.”

Supporters of the recall must gather slightly more than 100,000 signatures to initiate a recall election.

Interesting.

In the case of Bill Clinton, Democrats didn’t care about allegations of sexual harrassment. But in this case, they are taking on one of their own.

Very interesting. Sex harrassment in the political arena has become just another political weapon, but normally used by the opposite party. Here, we see Democrats are the ones who started this campaign against Filner. Maybe they actually have some intellectual honesty on this issue.

There’s a Filner in every Democratic caucus, and, need it be said, every Kennedy.

Thanks Libloather.

Bob Filner, Mayor of San Diego.

I just can’t get my brain to accept that, I always wondered what kept him in in the congress from anywhere in San Diego county, and never would have guessed that he could win a city election.

While a congressman, Filner jumped over the counter and beat up a small female United Airlines baggage agent at Dulles Airport because his bag was taking too long and the agent was helping another passenger ahead of him.

Because he was a congressman the prosecutor let him off the assault and battery charge and gave him a trespassing misdemeanor charge, with no jail time.

That’s the kind of guy he is.
Oh, and he is a Democrat, as you might expect.

Yes it’s true.

He ran behind the counter at the baggage office and grabbed the woman. Police were called and he tried to get off claiming to be a congressman, but they weren’t putting up with that.

Unfortunately, the Commonwealth Attorney (District Attorney in VA) let him off the hook.
