...George P. Bush is running for state land commissioner, a post unfamiliar to most Texans, because he says it best suits his skills, not because it could launch him to bigger things in the largest Republican-leaning state.
"It's a legacy that I embrace and that I'm not going to run away from," Bush told The Associated Press.

If you ever read the novelist William Faulkner, you know about the Snopes family. THAT is the Bush family, 60 years earlier : )
The original Prescott Bush must have been a real gem to turn out two generations of this ilk. The next generation doesn’t deserve the blame yet, but who in their right mind would take a chance knowing who their leading advisers within the family would be.
It’s like a Kennedy going to Ted for driving lessons?
“Sure kid, just pick me up out back of O’Shawnasee’s! We’ll pick up some babes and look for some quaint old wooden bridges to drive under.”
If that’s the case, SHTF/CW2 can’t come soon enough.
I should pick up the book and check it out.
Faulkner lived in the south, and knew what a “carpetbagger” was.
Keep out da bushes!
I think he has supported La Raza.
Yep the Bush Family is qualified as Carpetbaggers, Scalawags, Damn Yankees & God awful Puritans.
All of the above ; )
I didn’t get far enough South to know it from a personal basis, but I did learn the term fairly early in life and it stuck with me.
Does he support allodial land titles? If so he is a different breed than the other Bush babies...
The GOP rinos will be giddy running him against Chelsea in 2024. Then in 2032 Malia Obama will run against Meghan McCain.
Wait, isn’t he from Connecticut where the rest of them Bushes grow?!
Is this the White Hispanic of the family?
A lot of news today regarding royal families.
Young Jorge is a master of reaching across the aisle, only his reach is into Mexico.
All I have to say is barf, and I hate that word.
Oh please. I’m so sick of all this anti-Mexican stuff on FR. He’s not “reaching into Mexico.” He’s running for a position in Texas, a border state where the governor (who is conservative and is supported by the majority of the citizens) has a good view of things and has encouraged a prosperous state.
Mexicans are not voters here, in any case, and the big problem with the Bushes is not that they are friendly to Mexicans but that they are too easily pushed around by the Dems. GWB was so “gentlemanly” that he never, never fought back, and in addition, the GOP has always been so disunited and chaotic, each one out for his own particular obsession, that they could never come together to support him. But that’s a different story.
