SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Three men arrested in Petaluma Tuesday afternoon are suspected to have committed a robbery in Santa Rosa hours earlier, police said.
Two masked men, one with a shotgun and the other with a hammer, entered Bennett Valley Jewelers at 2700 Yulupa Ave. around 1 p.m., Lt. Ray Navarro said.
The shotgun-wielding man held the employees and customers at gunpoint while the hammer-wielding man smashed the jewelry cases. One of the employees fired several shots from a handgun at the suspect with a shotgun and the suspects fled, Navarro said.
Ty Visscher, an employee of Bennett Valley Jewelers, said no one inside the store was injured. He declined to comment further.
The suspects fled, jumping over a fence into a condo complex and then got into a waiting vehicle and three suspects drove away, Navarro said.
Petaluma police stopped a similar vehicle, and the three suspects were brought back to Santa Rosa as persons of interests after one was checked out in a hospital, Navarro said.
After obtaining evidence of the robbery in the car, including the gun believed to be used to hold up the store, police arrested the three men on suspicion of robbery, police said.
They were identified as Traveon Banks-Austin, 23, of San Pablo, and Hayward residents Alexander Tyvon Brandon, 23, and Ervin Dixon Jr., 25. All three men were booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery.
Petaluma police issued an alert around 1:35 p.m. about police activity on southbound Highway 101 at E. Washington St., and at 3:37 p.m. reported all roads were open.

Is "Tyvek" his brother or his sister?
No. Rayon, Dacron, and Nylon are, though.
Januvia, Victoza and Byetta are the sisters....
Heh! I’ve known and been associated with quite a few real Africans over the years and they all laugh at the made-up names american blacks give their kids, thinking that they are “african” names. Some will look at an american black and comment that the american is obviously decended from a particular tribe but bears a name that is only found in another tribe far away from their ancestors origin. They also say that most of the “african” names they see here are made-up, not at all african tribal names in any way. Most of the real africans I’ve known want nothing to do with all of the “think they’re african”-americans.
Where do they get their names out of a scrabble box?.
Don’t be silly, his sisters name is Urine!
His sisters are twins: Urine and Urout.
Are you sure? I thought their names were Urine and Pisonya.
“Is “Tyvek” his brother or his sister?”
The comedian Bobby Slayton used to say that blacks went into the drug store to get the names for their children off of medicine bottles. He always talked about the “black twins,”Syphilis an Gonorrhea!” Then theres’ always LA-A. Whose mother told her school “it’s Ladasha, the dash don’t be silent!”
Pisonya be da babymama-sistah.
Da babymama be LaTreen.
And if these folk would learn to speak English, and would find some source for personal names other than strings of random syllables, other folk wouldn’t mock them.
The past few years, for added panache, the apostrophe has entered the game.....La’Keisha and such.
I’ve said for years their mama’s named them after what was in their bowls of alphabet soup.
How about some good ole ,Merican Names
