Allies of Senator Mitch McConnell pushed Matt Bevin, a Kentucky businessman on the cusp of announcing he will run against McConnell in the states GOP primary, to stay out of the race, according to an adviser close to Bevin.
McConnells campaign denies the allegations.
Mitch McConnells people reached out to Matt for several months through all different avenues trying to convince him not to run, the adviser close to Bevin tells National Review Online. They can pretend like theyre not afraid, they can call him a nuisance, but they were desperate not to have him. Because they are scared.
First they tried to threaten him, the source added, and then they tried to dangle shiny political prizes.

I hope Bevin beats him in the primary.
Actually, McConnell is an equal-opportunity savage when it comes to running for office.
He’s always tried to destroy ANYONE who he sees as a potential threat. Democrat or Republican.
Old boy plays for keeps.
I have yet to be watching tv and seeing Senator McConnell on saying anything that protects America and its citizens. He like most, seems more concerned the the Mexican tribe and how we should pay for them not they take care of themselves.
I have never understood why Kentucky would elect him but if there is a new fresh face worried about America it will be a good change.
McConnell the Coward turned the Senate over to McCain. Any man who defeats this POS is a hero to me.
McConnell and McCain are both pieces of $hit.
They “Tried to threaten” him or they “Threatened” him?
Pond scum!
Since you’re a Kentuckian you probably know better than I do: do you think Bevin has a chance against McConnell?
LOL!
It would, not be the first time an old bull Rino has lost his seat. Hopefully,
there will more to go. Good luck Bivens.
Boehner, Cantor, and Goodlatte are missing theirs also.
“Have you seen my balls?”
If you can track down his chin, which seems to be missing too, there are probably a pair hanging on that.
On second thought, nevermind — those are probably Harry Reid’s.
Since youre a Kentuckian you probably know better than I do: do you think Bevin has a chance against McConnell?Too soon to tell.
The guy is a cypher right now. He may be a true conservative or he may be an astroturf candidate planted by northeast liberals.
McConnell and his campaign team have always done an excellent job of defining their opponents before they can introduce themselves to the public. Unless the challenger can get out a clear message, he doesn't have much of a chance.
IMO.
mcconnell is as corrupt as clinton.
LLS
That was a good one right there!!!!! :-)!
