Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has been placed on an emergency psychiatric hold following an incident in Thousand Oaks, California on Monday.
Police were called to the neighbourhood after the Easy A star allegedly tried to start a fire in a resident's driveway, where she was accused of trespassing.
She was questioned over the small blaze and cops decided to take her into custody to undergo an involuntary mental evaluation, also known as a 5150 hold, reports TMZ.com.
Captain Don Aguilar of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department tells the New York Daily News: "Deputies investigated the incident and determined that (Bynes) met the criteria of 5150 (California Welfare & Institutions Code).
"She was detained and taken for a mental health evaluation."
Patients held on a 5150 order can only be kept under surveillance for up to 72 hours.
Byne's latest detainment occurred just a day after she was spoken to by police officers after allegedly turning up drunk outside an old people's home in Thousand Oaks on Sunday.
The two incidents are the latest in a string of woes for the actress - she is facing a charge of driving under the influence after allegedly crashing her car into a police vehicle last year, and a further accusation of driving on a suspended licence several months later. She is also accused of reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence and possessing marijuana after reportedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window during a police raid in May.

I feel kinda bad for her, she is acting like a couple people I knew in college, they were later diagnosed with having schizophrenia. It usually doesn’t manifest like this until after the individual is out of their teens.
She seems fine there...
Sad. She was talented and funny when she was a young teen. Show business tends to burn up the very young and spits them out. She’s hardly the first such to hit a deep bottom and won’t be the last.
She played the best friend of the main character in the film version of "Hairspray". She was adorably cute......at the time.

It is a wonderful contemporary take on Shakespeare’s comedy, ‘Twelfth Night’.
She did a great job and stands up next to Channing and brings out his comedic side rather than being a ken doll. And he is funny

lots of stars go batguano crazy but this was quick. There has to be some sort of substance abuse angle here because people with something to lose just don’t do this unless they’re incapacitated. She seemed like good kid and she was building a resume and then blammo, she retires, un-retires, and re-retires in order to be a rapper. She gets busted for DWI, does that hair, starts the crazy tweets..

I think allowing your kid to go into show business these days is tantamount to child abuse. Hollywood is an evil place.
