JONESVILLE, SC - Investigators in Union County say one of the suspects in a double murder says he killed the male victim because the victim was a sex offender, and he planned to kill another sex offender on Wednesday.

Sheriff David Taylor announced at a news conference Wednesday that Jeremy and Christine Moody, ages 30 and 36, have both been charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Charles and Gretchen Parker, ages 59 and 51.

The Parkers were found dead at their home on Furman Fendley Highway Monday with gunshot and stab wounds.

It's unclear why the female victim was killed, but it's possible the perpetrators did not want to leave a witness.

The suspects were caught on camera, according to Taylor and later taken into custody.

Taylor says Jeremy Moody admitted to killing Charles Parker because he was a registered sex offender. He told investigators that he planned to commit the crime last year, but got cold feet.

"Things like this don't happen often in Union County," Taylor explained at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "If we find dead bodies and we don't know how it happened, then it's a threat to the community."

According to Taylor, a neighbor walked by the home a couple of times during the day and noticed the front door was open. Out of concern, the neighbor called 911.

Deputies tried to get to the bodies, but were unable to because of a large number of overprotective dogs. Animal Control officers were dispatched to the scene to help assist deputies.

Sheriff Taylor announced that both victims died of gunshot and stab wounds at the news conference. Authorities believe they may have died sometime Sunday, but the case remains under investigation.

The pair was found on couches inside the home. Officials say there doesn't appear to be a struggle.

this part is weird
“Deputies tried to get to the bodies, but were unable to because of a large number of overprotective dogs. Animal Control officers were dispatched to the scene to help assist deputies.”
so the suspect have no problem getting by the dogs to kill the victims, but the officers couldn’t?

Deputies tried to get to the bodies, but were unable to because of a large number of overprotective dogs.

Those dogs weren't all that "over protective", now were they? As witnessed by their dead owners.

This hurts my head. I don’t know the sex offenders crime. To settle my own conscious I will assume he was a repeat child sex offender recently paroled. That makes it easier.

In that case, Justice was served illegally and all should be punished.

Does that make sense?

which would make sense, and that the “sex offender” part would just be an excuse

Skinheads with tattoos on their throats saying “skinhead” aren’t the sharpest tools in the box. Hope the dead weren’t just guilty of being drunk and peeing in a park?

The picture of a complete fool.

Oh Well, he can finish up his Tats in prison if they don’t execute him. The wife is evidently an idiot too.

His admission that it was planned, and that he planned other murders should lead to an easy 1st. degree murder conviction, he should be placed on the fast track to execution. His wife?? Well we don’t know her story yet.
In fact she may be the cause of it all.

I’m going to bet that one or both of these guys is a sex offender. Maybe not registered though.

Why not bet that these guys were raped by a sex offender?

I suspect that would be enough to send someone over the top to seek justice that the courts don’t provdide.

Nowadays a fourteen-year old girl can become a registered sex offender for life for texting a topless picture of herself.

Does that even make sense?

Sex-offender registries are unconstitutional on their face, but some people selectively care about the constitution.

If these people are so dangerous, charge them with a crime and keep them in jail forever.

If they aren't dangerous enough to keep in jail forever, then there is some kind of logical and moral disconnect going on here.

More info from Fox Carolina. http://www.foxcarolina.com/story/22906138/sheriff-2-bodies-found-in-union-county-home

JONESVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Union County Sheriff David Taylor said two arrests were made in a double-homicide case after two people were found dead inside a Jonesville home Monday.

Taylor said a neighbor called 911 at about 8:40 p.m. and wanted deputies to check on the residents in a home on Furman L. Fendley Highway.

He identified the victims as Gretchen Parker, 51, and Charles Parker, 59, and said they lived in the home where they were found dead.

Taylor said surveillance video helped them identify and arrest Christine, 36, and Jeremy Moody, 30, in connection with the Parkers’ deaths. Both were arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

Jeremy Moody told deputies he killed Charles Parker because he was a registered sex offender and planned to kill another registered sex offender on his list on Wednesday had he not been caught, Taylor said. Taylor said Gretchen Parker was killed because she was with Charles Parker.

According to the State Law Enforcement Division website, Charles Parker is listed as a registered sex offender, convicted in 1991 of criminal sexual conduct third degree.

Deputies, neighbor discover bodies in Jonesville home

Taylor said a neighbor had stopped by a few times Monday, but no one came to the door so he called deputies, Taylor said.

Taylor said in a press conference on Tuesday that both victims were shot and also stabbed multiple times but so far, investigators have no leads and have not made any arrests in the case.

“Anytime you have dead bodies, and you don’t know who’s done the act, it’s a threat,” Taylor said.

An autopsy done on Monday morning determined that Charles Parker was shot twice, once in the neck and once in the chest, and also suffered from stab wounds, Taylor said. Gretchen Parker was shot once in the chest and stabbed multiple times, according to Taylor.

When deputies arrived, they found the back door open and heard dogs inside the home, Taylor said. He said deputies discovered the bodies of a man and woman in the living room, guarded by several dogs.

Taylor said investigators had to wait for Animal Control to take eight dogs, some puppies, two cats and chickens out of the house and secure warrants before going inside.

State Law Enforcement Division investigators were brought in to help process the crime scene, Taylor said.

Taylor said from everyone investigators have talked to, no one had talked to the Parkers since Saturday. He also said there were no signs of forced entry, though the door was left wide open.

“From everything that we can tell, nothing is missing at this time,” Taylor said. “Everything appears to still be intact. The house was not ransacked. So it doesn’t appear to be robbery.”

Sheriff: Surveillance video shows suspects at scene of crime

According to Taylor, Jeremy Moody said he wanted to kill Charles Parker a year ago but he “chickened out” and then decided to kill him on Sunday. Taylor said Jeremy Moody got the tools necessary to go through with his plans, including a gun, knife, gloves and boots.

Taylor said the Parkers’ exterior surveillance cameras showed the Moodys pull up to the home, pop the hood on their vehicle as if it was broken down then encounter Gretchen Parker.

He said Charles Parker came out of the home after his wife for a few minutes before returning inside. That’s when the Moodys went inside the home, Taylor said.

According to Taylor, surveillance video shows both of the Moodys walk inside the home. He said Christine Moody appeared to have something in her hand while Jeremy Moody appeared to have a gun in his hand.

Jeremy Moody told deputies that he confronted Charles Parker, telling him he was not there to rob him when they said they did not have any money, according to Taylor.

“He says, ‘You think I’m here to rob you, I’m not here to rob you,’” Taylor said Jeremy Moody told deputies. “[He] says, ‘I’m here to kill you because you’re a child molester.’”

Taylor said Jeremy Moody is affiliated with some type of group and is now under investigation in connection with crimes in other counties.
