Headline:
“NASA starts building ...”
Article:
“and hope to one day build an engine “
Typical headline hype. The article is nothing like that at all.
Space is not something that can be expanded. Space is not something. It is what remains when all objects are removed.
Maybe he means the distance between objects, but that’s not what he said.
Time is the measurement of the motion of objects. Time is not something that can be combined with space to produce the ludicrous concept “space-time.”
Einstein did not make ‘rules’ about the way things act. He observed. There are no ‘rules’, only observations. It’s not possible to ‘bend’ the ‘rules.’

Ye cannoh change the laws of PHYSICS, Capn.
True, but we already know we don’t know all of the laws of physics. It’s why the supernova computer models don’t work. They get to the point where we should get a spectacular blas but, instead, they just go all black hole on you. It’s because there are physical laws or elements involved that we don’t yet understand.
I have little doubt that, if the Lord waits, we will exceed the speed of light and, considering we still don’t know how gravity works, the key may be in understanding just that.

We will get all the answers eventually, and be amazed at how simple and elegant it all is!

If you fold space, you don’t have to actually go that fast, but your point is well taken.
Along the way you’d want to invent the ‘deflector shield’ first.

“So, what happens when you run into a speck of cosmic dust at that speed? Hmmm.....” Don’t forget, they will also need to invent artificial gravity and inertial dampeners too. ;-)

Space is not something that can be expanded.
Then what happened at the big bang?
Space is not something. It is what remains when all objects are removed.
I think that is what's called a vacuum, no?

Einstein laughs in your general direction.

Quantum entanglement indicates that at least at some spacetime level instantaneous communication can happen. Einstein's speed limit is supposedly on communication, but entangled particles disobey that limit, so it is obviously not hindering two entangled particles. Now the trick is to establish a much larger state of 'particle' and let 'er rip!
BTW, if you could see the entire Universe from the outside, it would all be nothing more than a particle in a larger context. If a bubble can be established inside the Universe which isolates the inside of the bubble from the spacetime Universe of our experience, then all of the Universe is simultaneously accessible to the ones 'inside' the bubble.

Put another way, imagine the Universe as a bubble of spacetime. If you could fashion a bubble inside that larger bubble, the surface of the smaller bubble would be attached to the surface of the larger bubble.

They just need to use the gravcity-wave engine Bob Lazaar worked on at Area 51 from the crashed alien spacecraftThis is a cover for the reverse engineering completed decades ago.

If it is faster than light, how can they keep up with it to build it.... It's so fast that you can't see it.
So, as in other things we can't see or understand, we will have to take the experts word that it actually exists.
Sort of like Obama's economic recovery, shovel-ready jobs, The Emperor's New Clothes, Global Warming & Climate Change.
