Trayvon Martin’s Dad Adds Voice To Help Black Men, Boys (Congressional Hearing)
CBS Baltimore ^ | July 24, 2013

WASHINGTON (AP) — Trayvon Martin’s father told a crowded Capitol Hill forum on Wednesday that “a statute or amendment” safeguarding young people against the type of circumstances that resulted in his son’s death would be a fitting legacy for his son.

“The question is, what can we do as parents, what can we do as African-American men, to assure our kids that you don’t have to be afraid to walk outside your house?” Tracy Martin asked during a forum convened by the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys, one of several such caucuses comprised of House members who want to seek possible legislative responses on various issues.

Martin said he is dedicated to ensuring that depictions during the trial of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Trayvon dead but was acquitted, do not define his 17-year-old son. Trayvon was his hero, Martin said, and “to not be there in his time of need is real troublesome, not to be able to save my son’s life.”

Martin’s comments opened what was billed as the first gathering of the caucus, which was formed to focus attention on issues disproportionately affecting black men and boys, such as joblessness and racial profiling.

“I would like to see Trayvon Martin’s name attached to a statute or amendment that says you can’t just profile our children, shoot them … and say you were defending yourself,” Tracy Martin told the lawmakers and the standing-room-only crowd....

Former NAACP President Kweisi Mfume cited the cases of Emmitt Till, a 14-year-old boy killed in Mississippi in 1955, and Rodney King, whose 1991 beating by Los Angeles police was captured on video, as examples of a sad, cyclical history that have had an impact on black men and boys.

Posted by another FReeper (apologies...I do not know who, I just grabbed the text) on a thread yesterday...

•The father who left his “at risk teen son” alone for the weekend so he could attend a convention.

•The father who refused to give police the passcodes/swipe codes to Trayvon’s phone and instead told the police on 2/28/12 to call his attorney.

•The father who lied about how his son got to Sanford.

•The father who falsified a sworn statement to FDLE investigators.

•The father who said he saw he last saw Trayvon at 8:00pm when in actuality Trayvon was shot at 7:17.

•The father who called juvenile hall and then the adult detention facility to find his son rather than police missing persons.

This is the “representative role model” that the black community emulates? No wonder it is imploding.

Those pictures are from before he got caught with a Crips gang tattoo which he covered up. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit to hear that ABCCBSNBCCNN paid for the new ever so sympathetic Praying Hands tat.

African men should teach their children to be polite, and treat people right. Teaching them not to steal, rape, beat people, murder people, or get into people’s faces would go a long way towards ending incidents like the one where Trayvon got himself killed. Be better fathers before it comes to that.

If black people are looking outside the black culture, towards laws that would make others more vulnerable to black criminals, they need to stop their nonsense, and start admitting the truth. The problem is with the black culture.

“The question is, what can we do as parents, what can we do as African-American men, to assure our kids that you don’t have to be afraid to walk outside your house?”

Tracey Martin should have done it - been a better parent - when Trayvon was ALIVE. Why was Trayvon staying with dad's girlfriend?

The longer this malarkey continues the better. That’s because it’s waking a lot of people up that you can’t reason with these people, so why try?

That sort of parenting is real troublesome.

It's not troublesome to the people who need to be troubled by it ... the actual parents of all the young Obamassons beating and shooting and stealing and dying. If they gave a single isolated flying freep about their children, they wouldn't be standing there yadda yadda high-quality preschool.

They'd be saying, "He could have been a decent person, an okay student, a productive adult ... but *I* blew it."

Plus, as long as they do not seek the truth about themselves and face up to their responsibility for their problems, there is no hope for them.

A problem cannot be solved it one refuses to even identify it (this reminds me of something else...oh, yeah...islam's war on the West).

Sorry Mr. Martin, but if you and Trayvon’s mother had behaved like parents, your son might be alive today. Perhaps you could have made sure he was home on a Sunday night instead of roaming the streets. Perhaps you could have set rules for your son. Perhaps you could have taught him the difference between right and wrong. Perhaps you could have taught your son responsibility. Perhaps you could have instilled in your son a love for and a desire to learn. Perhaps you could have been a role model for your son.

All the laws in the world are no substitute fir good parenting. You cannot make babies and then expect government to take care of them. If government can't operate Social Security at a profit, how can you expect government to properly raise your child?

“The question is, what can we do as parents, what can we do as African-American men...”

How about this: if your son dresses like a thug, gets kicked out of school like a thug, talks like a thug, hangs around kids who look and act just like him - maybe you can address the problem rather than just passing him off onto some else in another city. Maybe you could monitor him a little more closely. There’s a whole bunch of things you could do as a parent that you did not do.

“depictions during the trial ... do not define his son”

Who you gonna believe? Al, Jesse, the pResident an’ me ... or yo lyin’ eyes?

One less Trayvon is one less menace to society.

After this utterly predictable charade with the Congo Black Caucus, what’s the next step in the marketing campaign?

Considering the central role played by phone technology in this incident, the Martins will soon ink a product endorsement deal with a major telecommunications company. Here’s a draft version of the announcement:

Coming soon to a big box store near you! Long a leading provider of VOIP phone service, Vonage is pleased to announce their entry into cellular service. Included with this new service is an exciting new phone.

TrayVonage 911™

The TrayVonage 911™ is versatile - you can use it to hustle fat ho’s who can’t read cursive or to bash in the head of nosy white Hispanics. Call your dealer to locate Robitussin with codeine, then call your homie to fence stolen jewelry. This phone can do it all!

You can use the stop watch app to time yourself in the 100 yard dash (timer limited to four minutes). Includes actual human voice ringtones like: “Are you a rapist, semi-honkie?” and “Is that thing loaded?” The high impact case will even resist a fall onto wet grass when you need both fists to deliver an azz whoopin. Cutting edge noise reduction circuitry automatically mutes cries for help and even 9mm rounds discharged from below (bullet damage not covered by warranty). Breakthrough security features include an encrypted password that only crooked special prosecutors can access after you’ve made your last call.

Order now and get the Martin Family Plan with preprogrammed speed dial numbers for Angela Corey, Al Sharpton, and Nancy Grace.

Get yours today. If you miss out, it’s yo’ own damn fault, nigga.

Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys

Lets see this will be pretty straightforward. Racist, racism and the evil white man. Is there anything else?
