BOSTON (WHDH) -- Boston police released a picture hoping it will help them find the suspect in the death of a South Boston woman who was kidnapped and killed.
Police said Amy Lord, 24, was kidnapped, carjacked, robbed and murdered on Tuesday. For 47 minutes, investigators say Lord was forced to withdraw money from her bank account at five different Boston-area ATMs, each one taking her further from her South Boston apartment.
Police said Tuesday around 6 a.m. at least one man forced her into her car. Investigators found her car burned just after 8 a.m. She was reported missing at 11 a.m. On Tuesday evening, a bicyclist found her body stabbed and left at the Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park.
Sources told 7News Lord was beaten in her home before being taken to the ATMs.

Good time to reinforce with your loved ones - DON'T GET IN THE CAR, EVEN IF HE HAS A GUN.
And, if you can get out of the car safely, RUN LIKE HELL, EVEN IF HE HAS A GUN.
1) He might not shoot, especially in public.
2) If he shoots, he might miss.
3) If he hits you, you might not be seriously injured.
4) If you are seriously wounded by a gunshot (especially 1/3 of a mile from Boston Medical Centre), you might not die.
5) If you leave voluntarily in the car, your death is a near-certainty.
Need panic buttons on ATM machines. Notifies police, starts recording account activity, takes multiple pics and stores them separately, etc.
Whenever I see the word “random,” in a crime story, I know what to expect.
Is the Amish up to no good again? They sure have stepped up their game since 0 took office...
That's an absolutely fantastic idea. Someone should raise this great point to companies who make ATMs.
good advice about the vehicle....damn the Mass Puritans are on the rampage.
Run!
They are already connected to a network, so I don’t think it should be too difficult to engineer.
If they are worried about people just pushing the button for fun, then it could come up on the touch screen after you enter your PIN.
I had a similar experience many years ago. I was in downtown Seattle at night, and a guy asked for a ride up the hill to a hospital where he said his girlfriend was a patient. Stupidly, I believed him, gave him a ride, he robbed me (wallet and watch) at knifepoint, and began giving me orders to drive him to a certain place. On route, I saw up ahead a couple of police talking to some people in front of a bar. When we got near the police, I slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car, not knowing if I’d be shot. The police arrested the guy, who had a history of strong-armed robbery and drug offenses.
There were three stabbings in the same neighborhood within a 24 hour period. The guy pictured in post#2 is suspected of stabbing the two other women and and police haven’t ruled him out as a suspect in this murder.

That's an excellent idea, ltc8k6! I assume there'd be a few false alarms now and then, but those would be a small price to pay for criminals caught in the act.
You don't want a panic button - neither a hardware button nor an on-screen one. You can't press it without that being detected by the criminal who pokes you with a knife.
What you want is a panic PIN code. It works exactly as the regular one, and you can use the machine as usual and get cash. However, if entered, that panic PIN code triggers all those alarms that you suggest. Since there is no way for the criminal to know what PIN code does what, you are as safe as you can be under the circumstances.
The good part is that such a change only requires some simple programming, to add a column for the panic PIN and to compare against it.
A fantastic idea, and you raise a legitimate point as to why this would be safer than a panic button.
You’d have to remember a different PIN in a panic though. If the perp is right there, he’s on camera anyway and he knows it, so he’s probably disguised.
It’s the carjacking ones that seem to be the worst. They always seem to drive the victim around to several ATM’s and then murder them, like Eve Carson. They murder the victim because they aren’t disguised and the victim can point them out. They don’t wear a disguise because they know they won’t be walking up to the ATM and they know they are going to kill the victim.
I’m not sure the panic button would work. It’s just that to see those victims away from the car and unable to run away...it seems like we could do something with the ATM machine.
Could be the last 4 of your SSN?
You’d remember that, the crook wouldn’t have a clue, and it also helps ID you.
You'd be selecting your panic PIN just as easily as you select your PIN for regular access. I wouldn't use the SSN for that because it's overused; however there are simple mnemonic tricks to remember things. If you positively cannot remember the PIN, open a book that has numbers (the Bible would do,) and write down what you need to remember the PIN. Take that piece of paper with you - just leave in the car, for example; you can even stick it to the back of the visor. If you lose the paper, it's just some verses; who is going to figure out how to recombine them into the PIN? Besides, if someone steals that PIN and your card, they'd call police on their $behind instantly.
