The Department of Emergency Management advises residents to follow the progress of Tropical Storm Flossie as it approaches Hawaii.
The National Weather Service Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu advised the Department of Emergency Management this afternoon that on its present track Tropical Storm Flossie may bring strong winds and torrential rains and possible flooding early next week. Tropical Storm Flossie is anticipated to cross the 140° longitude and into Hawaiian Waters around noon Saturday.

Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - Tropical Storm Flossie has weakened slightly as it moves ever closer to the islands. As of 11:00 a.m. HST Sunday, maximum sustained winds were 60 miles per hour, according to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu.
Forecasters said at 11:00 a.m., the storm was located about 430 miles east of Hilo, or 615 miles east of Honolulu. It was moving toward the west at 20 miles per hour. Forward movement is expected to slow ever so slightly as the storm nears the Big Island.
