With dozens dead, U.S. tells Egypt to pull 'back from the brink'

The United States urged Arab ally Egypt to pull "back from the brink" after security forces killed dozens of supporters of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi and opened a dangerous new phase in the army's confrontation with his Muslim Brotherhood...

Washington, treading a fine line with an important Middle East ally and recipient of over $1 billion in military aid, urged the Egyptian security forces to respect the right to peaceful protest...

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to two senior members of Egypt's army-installed interim cabinet, expressing his "deep concern."

"This is a pivotal moment for Egypt," he said in a statement. "The United States ... calls on all of Egypt's leaders across the political spectrum to act immediately to help their country take a step back from the brink."

Saturday's violence, and the threat of more, has deepened alarm in the West over events in the country of 84 million people, a vital bridge between the Middle East and North Africa.

Over 200 people have died in violence since Sisi deposed Mursi on the back of huge popular protests against his rule, ending a one-year experiment in government by the Muslim Brotherhood after decades spent in the shadows under successive Egyptian strongmen.

All of us may want to watch this situation closely. Could be barack supporters come 2016 when the zer0 is removed after they want zer0 to stay and it does not happen for them.

I wonder if anyone at State...or the White House....understands that “the brink” is *exactly* what the Moslem Sisterhood wants? *Beyond* the brink, actually.

The media has neatly disassociated the Commie Obama from the mess he and the grotesque Hillary Clinton made in the Middle East, I see.

Have no problem with that. But that isn’t protecting Biblical Israel as God so commanded.

Mursi is probably busy getting his two sons back to the USA where they were born and where they would enjoy the benefits of USA citizenship because they were born in the USA. By being born in the USA they could even ,according to some people, run for POTUSA and be elected with the help of the growing population of Muslims in the USA.

Well this tells us than even Obama can see that his beloved Muslim Brotherhood is getting beat up by the Egyptian Military. Time to play the F-16 Card. Time to save the Caliphate.

Obama - always on the wrong side of every issue, every policy.

On the Live Egypt thread, news etc reports stated that under Morsi there were electric blackouts, lines of scarce bread, and gasoline shortages.

After Morsi was kicked out, none of the above.

Turns out Morsi was illegally funneling the above commodities to Gaza and lining his pocketses.

The Live thread is where the real news is, obviously 0thugga and his cabal are disturbed since promoting radical Islam is one of their main goals.

I’ll second that emotion. A good start might be subbing Chicago for Egypt in the headline.

>Let China and Russia and Europe deal with Islam.<

.
Sheesh, you don’t seem to understand.

With the large number of muslims already in the country, we SHALL HAVE TO deal with them sooner or later.

One cannot live with a poisonous snake in the same house, indefinitely.

one could say it was a given this was going to happen once the mb came back into being when the mb was let out of the shadows. zer0 fails again. When it is a foreign policy failure, by zer0, it is good for the planet's people.

These deaths and many others throughout the Middle East were ultimately caused by Barack Obama's drive to depose secular dictators and establish the Greater Caliphate. I wonder how he feels about so many of his Muslim Brotherhood brothers getting killed? Probably not much; life is cheap to Islamists.
